unlike in the states when you go south it gets warmer... here you go south and its colder... so a friend from michigan i met here in new zealand, text messaged me thursday night asking me to go to Napier with her in the morning... I had a few things goin on taht weekend... but then just decided eh what the hell... so i met her in napier, i left later after my class, and its a nice 5 hour bus ride. it was beautiful weather there, got a nice tan, not taht i dont' get tan at home, but you notice the weather change almost immedi. The ride was cool because of the scenary you get to see, a river going beside a mountain, in between the road and mountain. a vally with Lush trees taht look liek velvet. many of the home on the way there and in the city have a Florida house look to them. Even though NZ is well known for having tons of sheep living in the capital city i hadn't seen any till this bus ride... and yes i saw a TON. haha
i'm glad i took some motion sickness stuff before the bus ride... chauncey knows whats up man... (para sailing, Puerto Rico) cause it was a rocky bus ride through the rural areas.
Napier is a small city of only 55,000 but a beautiful one. Its full of families, and older couples. our hostile was right off the beach ... which wasn't sand... but instead flat smooth black rocks and black tiny pebbles. Its known for good surfing and the beach life.
We went on a Tasty Tour, where we tried everrrrything!
first was the honey factory, with lots of displays to learn from, and watch the bees in action. We tried a dozen diff. honeys
next was cheese, ive never ate blue cheese from a block... and dont' think i liek that too much.
then was olives. pretty good but big ol pits. christine went crazy over them... i liked this stuff you take bread dipped in oil and then dip in this called dukkah. so i purchased some
next was Schnapps, liquor, had a butterscotch and creme shot, delicious.
then we had lunch in a park and watch some cricket
after that we had icecream made right there at the shop. i had a kind with a weird name, some kind of fruit haha
i was ready to puke, but then we had coffee. Lots of things in NZ are similar to england , so coffee is a big thing here, social event and a way of art. But i had yet to even have a cup yet... so since i wasnt' a coffee drinkin i went with somtin with a soft coffee taste, moccachino, chocolate and what not, it was suppppper good, and i really dont' like coffee taste. haha
after that was chocolate factor, i coudl even taste test the samples, had to take them to go. but it smelt wonderful there.
last we finished off with wine tasting, ill have to say i hate wine. really, red white doesn't matter i just dont' like it.
after that we went to the hostile and slept cause our belly's were too full. haha
sunday we shopped a lil and chilled on the beach, it was a relaxing nice weekedn away.
