My baby girl just called in tears. She went to her grade seven dance, and was sure that this would be the year that her school crush would ask her to dance. She has some anxiety issues, so her asking him was out of the question. She has been building up for this for a long time, since grade one you know! Her girlfriend, Kaylan, has been giving her 'flirting tips' because apparently "I don't have it together Mom" - (Not that I mind that at all!) But then, at the dance, Kaylan asked him to dance. And later he asked her back. My baby said that her stomach felt like it fell on the floor, and she left the gym and started to cry. Apparently 'everyone' now hates the other girl - even the teachers! But it could have been worse. Because Kevin asked Monica to the dance and they were dancing and Cale cut in and started dancing with her and so Kevin spent the rest of the dance sitting on the bench and Shawna asked Matt to dance and he yelled at her so she went crying out of the gym and now everyone hates Matt and my girl says that she has the best friends because they yelled at Kaylan who is going to be at Sheila's birthday party tonight and we don't know if Sheila knows how mad everyone is because she was dancing with Marcus........ Oh boy. I'm guess there is SOMETHING good about being 40something. But in her world, this is everything right now. We're gonna go for ice cream tonight. It just hurts to have your loved ones hurt so much.
