| myspace ... and the ruination of a mom

Memories......... like the corners of my mind... blah blah blah.
here's the story of Myspace, and how AAA interfered with the internet.
Let me tell you about AAA and the job formerly known as dispatcher. I began working there in July 95. i had applied all over town and the finest Taco Bells and KFC's you can imagine. AAA hired me without any hesitation.I absolutely loved that job. Almost as much as i hated it. i was a call receiver, promoted to dispatcher, then to Service coordinator, then dispatcher. i was all over the board. Say what you want about me, i was VERY good at what i did there. One of the best.
AAA does not care about anyone but AAA. dont let them fool you with their 100 yrs of service. They want your money and thats it. Employees fall at the short end of the shaft, and always will. Even with a boss, who cared more than she let on about the employees, the SUITS in Costa Mesa fucked it up for the rest of us.
Someone at work, asked me to join Myspace in May 2005. i was twice as old as everyone at work, so i didnt hang out with anyone. it felt kinda special to be included in this. i signed up on my birthday, June 1st. i never posted because i didnt understand how to post. i think the only thing i ever managed to get posted was asking 'HOW DO I POST'
while on my yearly 2 week vacation, a friend called me and told me that 28 employees were being called into the office, asked about their involvement in myspace, and suspended. i was confident that i'd survive since i didnt participate in anything.
how wrong i was! when i returned from my vacation, i went into the office to talk to a supervisor (if you look her name up in the dictionary, a picture of a doublewide trailer would be next to it) the only thing i was asked in this meeting, was if i was a member of myspace, did i know anyone on myspace, and did i post anything on myspace.
i was honest with Trailer Trash and said that i never posted, and had i known it was wrong to be a member of Slaves of AAA, i'd never have joined.
i was suspended, stripped of my badge, and invited to leave. i received my walking papers on July 5th. Now, the reason i am fighting this, is because, at NO time in this meeting, did anyone bring up my job performance. nothing about my work was ever brought up. the only thing that was discussed was myspace. i told them 'if SOMEONE would have told me that it was wrong, i'd have deleted the account' Trailer trash agreed with me 100 percent
Some people got to keep their jobs. But for the most part, everyone lost their jobs.
Unlike some people, i cannot just sit back and watch my life go up in flames and do NOTHING! some people think that i should just move along and get over it.
i'm 51 years old. to make the money i was making at AAA was something i was proud of. i worked VERY hard over the years, giving everything i had to that company, sometimes putting my family 2nd. I think that at the very least, maybe AAA needs to see the personal side of someone affected by the terminations, um i mean the At-will removals.
So, with any luck, i'll get some money out of this. Now before you say, 'good grief dummy, you arent getting shit', i know that i probably wont see a dime. But, it pisses me off that a company is using an At-will reason for a baloney excuse for FIRING us. so,the least i can do, for my family, is try to make it right. maybe change the At-will law in California. As it is now, AAA has manipulated the At-Will law to their benefit.
i'm done rambling. i'm tired so i'll probably rewrite this twenty times over tomorrow.
one good thing from AAA, well 2. i was without a doubt, the best dispatcher there. i loved taking complaints from crazy insane AAA members. Nothing says crazy like a member calling in to bitch, and then says they'll kill your children. You just have to laugh. some day i'll do an entire blog about Calls from AAA members.
the other good thing? the friends i made while i worked there. Each and everyone of them hold a special place in my heart. So suck THAT automobile club.

Seek out a good labour lawyer or if you have a labour " hotline " check it out.
Good luck
