I don't swerve for animals and I would not feel bad if I hit one. Well I would feel bad that I might have killed someones pet but I would feel bad for the animal. My friend swerved for a dog once. She missed it, almost had a head on collision with a car in the other lane, over corrected, went off the right side of the road, hit a tree almost totalled her car, and broke her nose. (It was raining.) The only animals I would swerve for is the large ones. Bears, moose, caribou. (Yes I have to worry about avoiding all those back at home.) I do try and slow down for animals. I won't slam on my brakes. My Mom rear ended someone who slammed on their brakes for a squirrel. I just though I should share that.... |

I 'swerve' when possible for all living things, but understand your point, which is well taken... p.s.... what with the reference to Moose, etc., if you aren't from my home state of Alaska it must have been somewhere up that direction!
