HR IS NOT HIRING
HR IS NOT HIRING!!!
Sooner or later we’ll hear something about a friend someone knows, or a loved one that’s searching for employment. This just happened to me, when my niece came to me asking “why do I need a degree to answer the phone, type letters, send faxes and make coffee? Of course I thought a second before answering “I’m not sure.” So, she goes on about her search for a job as a secretary or receptionist in the city, which isn’t going very well and told me there’s all these jobs everywhere, yet I can’t get one. Sure enough, you could look on just about any job webpage and there they are. Hundreds of jobs waiting for the taking. But are they really? Then she shows me this site where people are talking about their own Job search experiences.
Here’s what many are saying all over the country:
“HR. what’s HR who are these people? Every time I call an HR office it’s always voicemail, like they have some something else to do.”
“I just came to these forums today to vent a little frustration about what I consider (as well as others) what is a consistent problem in searching for a job.”
“Recruiters….. Many of them are nothing more than employers/data companies looking to rapidly increase their resume pools...by advertising something that doesn’t exists. Your recruiter / staffing agency specialist these days have more resumes than they have jobs to place them. One idea may just be to skip the recruiters and go right to the hiring managers, if you can find them.”
“One guy I know of graduated from my university (which is not that great, he has a B.A. I bumped into him one time and saw him selling tires. A BA holder should make at least $2000 after taxes.”
“I see this stuff on the web job boards all the time. Wanted 25+ years exp, 50k in certificates and usually, for some 9.00hr gig on 2nd or 3rd shift with split days off.”
“What happened to fair compensation for a day's work? Corporate Greed is ruling the DAY. Corporate Greed caused the recession with 2 million homes in foreclosure, etc.. etc.”
“I'm an excellent worker with great skills AND a degree! Where’s the problem?
I graduated from college and now I'm working at a grocery store.”
“That monster site keeps sending stuff about jobs I didn’t even apply for or even want.”
“What’s up with this multiple interview crap? I had two phone interviews and then a interview in person, and still don’t have a job!”
“The job market is an illusion.”
“HR is only seen when you have a problem with your benefits or you get fired!!!”
“After talking to a recruiter my main focus is finding another new position...not the recruiter's career development. I'd simply not respond to them again I'm sure they'd figure out what was going on...”
“I do see a lot of HR people who at least scratch their heads and look puzzled on a regular basis so I am never really really impressed by any of them. Look how many play on the internet on a regular basis and still have no clue as to what is normal behavior for the average worker.”
“What the hell is going with this tell me about yourself, and the behavioral assessments these days. Asking you if taking a pen from your job by mistake is stealing.. Temp agencies are using these as well… the corner store…. asking you what you would do if this or that. Maybe they just treat you badly during the interview on purpose to see how much crap you’ll take, what you will do and how you handle yourself. I think people who are too smart or independent minded will just say screw you, and look elsewhere. The real idiots will trip up somewhere along the way in the process. The perfect tard, just the right fit, makes it through the bullshit and is happy to get the offer. Which are you? And if that's not bad enough, the dopey tards interviewing you act like they're doing you a favor.”
I’m pretty certain you get the idea by now. How can this be? Seeing that my experience with many a HR office has been good and fair, but that was sometime ago. So maybe what they’re saying is true HR is not hiring. So who is? There were many post like those above, and some even stating that they couldn’t even find work in a fast food joint. Online registration with companies that hold and store personal information and is not held responsible for even getting to the right place. I’m not sure what to think of all this HR bashing, but I’d just like to remind them of the fact that People have to work! I don’t see how someone can apply for a position, get a rejection letter in two weeks, yet the position would still be open months later. COME ON HR!!!

Only lazy people work for others. Active people start their own businesses and hire others to do the work. My dad pays his yard workers $8/hr. but charges $25/hr/laborer when he bills the customer

The job market is a lot better now than it was years ago, at least where I live. However, even so, it is true that employers often expect more qualifications than are really necessary. You often see employers asking for years of experience and/or a wall full of diplomas, certificates and degrees to get a job that, often, in the end is not worth it. As for only lazy people working for others... hopefully that was a joke because, if it's not, it's got to be one of the dumbest statements I've ever read. Not everyone has the necessary capital or education to start up their own business and, if everyone did start their own business, the economy would fall apart because there would be no labour pool for employers to draw on.
