I think it's impossible to be in love with someone without meeting and/or knowing them. Idolism.

The power of sexual attraction makes all of us susceptible to falling in love (i.e., infatuation), even without knowing the slightest thing about a person other than what they look like and/or sound like. However, if one learns from his experiences, as one grows older he becomes less susceptible to mere physical and auditory attributes and more attuned to more meaningful qualities (e.g., character, morals, ethics, attitudes, perspectives). Falling in love, for whatever reason, is very real, but it may be based upon either superficial data or meaningful data or both. Either way, it's painful when disappointed. And, yes, infatuation with a celebrity generally is a waste of time if you've never even had a conversation with him.
