| your too young to know about love

Something I've heard on more than one occasion from different people.
I'm too young to know anything about love they say. How is it possible that you teach your children to "love" their brothers & sisters, or family and yet they don't know anything about love.
You loose an aunt, uncle or grandparent any family member. You cry and wish you had said goodbye, you miss them you remember all the times you had with them. Is this not a definition of love, not to all but to some it is.
That being said when you loose someone you know you loved ,boyfriend/girlfriend , you cry, wish you had done things different, miss them and remember all the times you spent with them. This can be love or lust .
In my mind, when you really miss someone and know you could have spent forever with them it's love. No matter what they tell you you want to be with him/her. They can tell you your not compatible and without any hesitation you continue to be with that person or attempt to win them back.
Why is it that the parents ? Or someone older than you ... thinks you dont know what you feel and always tell you how you felt. Why can't they just accept that maybe you did love that boy/girl , maybe you had rough times, and faught... but look at our families, any grandparents that have been together for 50-60+ yrs... they had arguments and probably temporarly seperated but they sorted things out and are still once again together.
It's just a phrase I absolutly hate hearing... "your to young to know what love is "...

They say it because they used to be young and "thought" they knew love, and it turned out to be a temporary thing. They realized this, and are trying to teach you the same thing. Not saying it was or wasn't love, but when I was in school (2 years ago) Everyone was saying how they loved such and such and how they are doomed after breaking up, and yet only after a year of seperation they have gone out with someone else and have completely forgot about the one before. If you truly love someone, no time will heal your heart, you will always deep down inside, hunger for them to be with you. That is love true.

you aren't too young......no one is. Part of it is that "adults" don't want the "kids" to hurt.....and with love comes pain. So, by not admitting the possibility of love...the pain that comes with is not a reality either.....stupid I know.
