Why Taylor Swift is a Good Sign for America

You know it worried me the day after the MTV Music Awards that the biggest news of the day even on CNN was Kanye West interrupting Taylor Swift when she was accepting her award for the best female video. I started thinking about it though and I think that is actually a good sign for the future of America. In fact I think the growing popularity of Taylor Swift in general is a good sign for America. Why? Well out of a group of singers like Pink and Beyonce, a young girl who sings good country music that is totally clean, wholesome, respectable, and sometimes inspiring won that award. And the reason it was news is because the American people were upset that an incompetent man like Kanye West threw a tantrum and interrupted a nice girl like Taylor Swift. Taylor is also nominated for the American Music Award artist of the year among indecent musicians like Eminem and Lady Gaga. I believe this is a good sign for America because it displays that the American people are becoming tired of much of the filth that is in our music industry today. In an industry full of songs promoting sex, drugs, violence, and just plain indecent behavior, artists like Taylor Swift, the Jonas Brothers, and Daughtry are breaking through the mold and growing in popularity with descent music that promotes love, determination, kindness, and perseverance. We live in a free country in which artists can sings about whatever they wish, but with our freedom comes responsibility to preserve our freedom through morality and decency from we the people. I am not a huge fan of country music myself, but I hope Taylor Swift wins artist of the year. It is time for us as a people to demand a better, more descent country for us and our children.

“Because power corrupts, society's demands for moral authority and character increase as the importance of the position increases.”
-John Adams
