The Heist (Or New York Minute II)
*AUTHOR'S NOTE: The last short-story was from Jason's POV. I'm going to keep going with the narrative thing I'm on right now. As such it will all be 3rd person :D

There was a soft click, and already Jason was stirring. He was so used to that click by now, that he didn't even need the radio to wake him up. The clock-radio dialed into the station he had it set and the music started "Sunday morning rain is falling....steal some covers share some skin.."  Jason rubbed his forhead ruefuly as Jessica started to stir next to him.

After the events of the Emma Smith murder 6 months ago, the had moved in together, and were engaged. But not only that, the FBI had reliquished their orders making Jason NYPD, and he was now Secret Service again. Jessica, who had also been FBI for a time, had renewed her comission as well, and they were now part of the New York unit, specializing in Black Hand Mob infiltration.

Jason got up, and wandered to the ensuite bathroom, stumbled in and hit the taps. He stood there for a good long while just letting the warm water cascade down over his chest and head. It'd been a long two weeks.  Very long. He sighed and shook his head in an animal like way.  Then he felt cold hands on his back, and he jumped, almost slipping on the wet fiberglass floor.

"HOLY!" he yelled, clutching his chest and breathing heavily. "Wear a bell, for heavens sake!"

His fiancee laughed and shoved him playfuly. "Give me a break. You've been shot, and this scared you?"

Jason rolled his eyes, and let Jessica start to work the kinks out of his neck. "What time did you get in last night?"

Jason sighed. "Bout 2. I think we have a lead."

She nodded. After the Emma Smith murder and their move to the Secret Service, Jason and his friends at the NYC headquarters had deduced that the 5 families were back in action. Major action at that. Long time friend and father figure, Winchester Charleston, had been a contact with the Mob. Not a Made Man. He wasn't Itallian.  But a Man of Honor, nonetheless.

"One of our contacts has...suggested, that there is about to be a major heist. Real old style too. Whichever family this is isn't screwin' around. Oh, and we recovered another body. Female, apparently her name is Alyss Capollini. She owned a very sucessful bakery in Little Italy."

Jessica grimaced. "It's begun then."

He nodded. "Yeah. They're starting to set up rackets. Protection, extortian, prostitutian and gambling. No drugs as far as we can tell, but that only means we havn't found 'em yet."

Jessice wrapped her arms around Jason's chest and pressed her skin against his. "So, what next?"

He shrugged. "We keep doing what we're doing. But, we've been ordered to be...packing....at all times. Even here at home."

"Really?"

He nodded. "Yeah. I got a glock18 for you in the cupboard in the bedroom. Lock and load. It never leaves your side, got it?"

"Yeah yea..."

He spun around suddenly and grabbed her arms. " 'Yeah yea..?' No. This is a "Yes. I'll do that' situation, Jessica. This is the Mafia we're talking about. We don't know who or where they are right now. Until we have that, and we have the key players that gun never leaves your side unless you're putting it infront of you to shoot someone."

They were quiet for a while. Once they had finished showering and gotten dressed, Jessica took the gun out of the cabinet and checked the weapon. "You've modified it." Not a question.

"Yeah. THe slide has been oiled and shined. I shored down the edges to make it easier to switched between single and automatic fire. It's been fitted for .357 SIG, gives you longer range and a flat tajectory. I've shortened up the grip and the trigger guard for your smaller hands, and the iron sights have been honed down."

Taking a regular clip, she checked to make sure it was loaded and the slide. Then put the clip in, pulled back on the slide and locked the saftey in place. "Here." Jason said, and he rummaged through his drawer. He pulled out a narrow tube with little arms on the side. "LAM." (Laser Aiming Module) He tossed it to her. Jessica slid it onto the bottem of the barrel and turned it on and off from firing position.

"She slid the weapon into her holster on her belt. "Thanks..." she watched Jason put his blue trenchcoat on. "What...umm, what about you?"

He grinned ruefully. "Hon. I havn't been unarmed since Emma died."

He pulled a foot locker out from under his bed and unlocked it. From this he pulled his customized USP complete with silencer, which he removed, and LAM. This went into the holster on his right hip. Next he drew out a small P7, M13 variant. That went into a holster lower on his leg.

Last was a special box, lined with felt. Inside was a extended barrel colt magnum. 6 shots, already loaded and two speed loaders. This went in by his chest. It had been a gift from Jessica almost a year ago."Alright, we're due at headquarters. We're going to breech a supposed safe house today. Hopefuly recover some weapons, and slot some bad guys."

Jessica frowned. "I hate killing-houses."

He cocked an eyebrow. "What do you mean? You sit in the van and call it. It's me and Johnny that have to do it."

"I know. Just makes me nervous."

He nodded, the grabbed coffee and started their drive downtown, it was going to be a long day.
