I wrote yesterday about my little dog dying suddenly and not really knowing what happened to her. I found out after wards that my friends little girl had squeezed her and then dropped her, the day before. I don't know if that's why she died or if something else was wrong, but I talked to my friend about it and he said that it was possible that she got hurt when she was dropped. I probably should have been told that when it happened, but surely I know it was an accident. The little girl is only 4 years old and she loved Little One.
Then this afternoon this friend called me and asked me to go over his house and pick up his cat to take it to the vet's for neutering. The vet was running a deal on the procedure, but only until 4:00 this afternoon. No mention of what happened to my dog, no apology for letting his daughter pick the dog up and squeeze it, then drop it.
I know it was an accident, I know the little girl didn't mean to hurt my dog, but does this guy think I would want to go to the vet's with his cat and sit there with all the other animals, the day after my dog died? I mean, I would have liked to have the opportunity to take my little dog to the vet, but he never told me that she might have gotten hurt, or that she was dropped at all.
Maybe I'm just really upset because of what happened, but it seems a little insensitive and selfish to me. Am I wrong, or is this guy so completely self-centered that he doesn't give one thought to how I might be feeling right now? Is this guy really a friend?
