Can't Come Out to Play Right Now
I'm just on briefly and see that you're all doing something real fun.  I know that my name has come up to be part of it and I'm sorry, but I'm not staying on right now.

Yesterday afternoon my little dog, who only weighs 2 1/2 lbs., and all white was acting weird.  She didn't want to play with the other dog and was lying around a lot, so I put her in the cage and let her be.  Later she got up an scratched to get out and when I took her to the door she wouldn't go down the steps.  I carried her to the yard, but then she wouldn't come back up, so I carried her up.

Later last night she wouldn't get up at all, though she ate and drank water, so she seemed OK.  Around 11:30 last night my husband came upstairs and told me to come down, he thought the dog was really sick and that he had put her in front of the fire place because she felt cold to the touch.

I came down and saw that she would not lift her head when we called her, she really wasn't responding at all.  My husband started to look for emergency Vet numbers and she suddenly started to flail her legs as though she was running, but she was still on her side.  I picked her up from the cage and held her against my chest and about 30 seconds later, she coughed a few times and fluid came out of her mouth.  Then she was gone.

I don't have any idea what happened to her, but we buried her this morning in the back yard.  She looked like she was sleeping.

I'll catch up with everyone in a little while when I've calmed down.  I can't stop crying right now about Little One.

Omg how awful. I'm so very sorry about the loss of your dog. Losing a pet is devestating. Poor Little One. Now would be a good time to read the Rainbow Poem, it might help in your grief.

You have my deepest sympathy.

I just want to give you a huge hug. I'm so incredibly sorry about the loss of your dog. I know for a lot of us, they are extended 4 legged family. Often times more loyal to us than our flesh and blood.
I'll be thinking about you, if you need me - you know where I am.

Thank you so much, you've all been so sweet and caring that I'm blubbering again!

I told a friend who was over on Sunday night with his 4 year old daughter and he told me that when I was out of the room, his daughter picked up the dog and was squeezing her, then dropped her on the table, where Little One bounced off and hit her head on the floor. It may have hepled if I'd known this before, maybe not, I don't know.

I've asked my friends before, specifically this one whose little girl adores Little One, not to let the kids pick up the dog. They squeeze, grab and pull on her like she's a stuffed animal. I certainly don't blame this little girl, but this isn't the first time that some parents come over and suddenly it's my job to stop the kids from running their Matchbox cars across the TV screen, or using the crystal bowl on the table like a basketball hoop or....

Thanks again to everyone for being so kind about this, I know people have suffered far worse losses than this. I think it's just so shocking to me because she was only 3 years old and so tiny, almost fragile, and maybe I should have watched more carefully.

Sorry, this has turned into a blog! I do appreciate all you kindness and I'll be out to play again soon. Thank you ll so much!!

Oh my gosh how horrible!
Does the father blame the little girl? It's really big of you to not hold her to blame for your doggy's death.
I can think of a lot of questions, but I wont because just reading the above made me mad.

The fact that you said fixin made my heart swell.

You're too sweet!!

No, she's just a little girl who loved my little dog. I am a little pissed at him for not watching her. I've told him many times not to let her pick the dog up, but he pays no attention to what she's doing, unless it effects him. The other day she knocked over my glass of lemonade onto the living room rug. That doesn't bother me, she's doing what kids do...he bohters me because he just sat there and watched while I cleaned it up.

I don't know what to do about his little girl because she comes here frequently and the first thing she does is look for Little One. If she's not in the house, she goes to the back door to let her in. I told him this morning not to say one word to her about her hurting the dog...she'e just 4, she just wanted to hug her.

I know my 4 year old would never intentionally hurt anyone or anything. She cries when she spills stuff.
I wish I had something to say as to what she says when she comes over and asks you about the dog :(

I have to say, Love the avatar pic! You're super pretty!

I know that the kids never mean to hurt the dog, that's why I'm pissed at her dad. First he didn't tell me that it happened until after she was dead and then he said Yeah, she could have gotten hurt. Still no apology, and he hasn't stopped over, so I'm really pissed at him.

Thanks you for the compliment!! I couldn't put it on, I had to get my husband to do it before he left for work. It's us at Penn's Landing in Phila, when our friend came from Ireland to visit, we all went there.

I guess it was time to get out of the shadow! I just really didn't want anyone to see that I actually look my age, but it doesn't matter

I am so sorry to hear about your dog.
What happen to your dog sounds identical
to what happen to my Pom. 6 years ago.
I ws aboe to get him to the vet they
thought he had pneumona, gave him shots
sent him back home, he seemed good for
a day, but the next night I came in
from work and he was worse. I took
him back the the vet that night, and
as I held while the Dr. examined him
he took his last breath. The Vet was
puzzled by this and ask if they could
do an autopsy to find out what happen
and then they would pay for a nice
casket and we could bury him. I said
yes so maybe the person that this happen
too they could save their dog. My dog had
heart aneurysm, and if they had known they
could have done surgery. Once again I am so
sorry for your loss.

Hugs
Pixie

Thanks so much. I'm having a hard time because it happened so fast, I feel like I wasn't watching her close enough. I can't believe she's gone so quick and so young and I don't know if the little girl hurt her that day. Of course she wouldn't intentionally, but I've asked the parents of anykids who come over here not to let them pick up the dog because she was so tiny and they would squeeze her. Then I have the poor little male dog, who's a little bigger at 4 1/2 lbs. running around the house all day looking for her, then he goes out back and looks.

It's just awful, as you know. I'm sorry for your loss, too. It's always hard to lose a pet you love so much.

No, she was very small and always fragile, but I feel like my friend should have told me that his little girl dropped her the day before. He didn't tell me that anything happened until I told him that she had died.

She went out in the afternoon, she ate, drank water, but was sleeping alot. I put her in the cage so the other dog and the cat wouldn't bother her. It was about 11:30 that night that my husband came upstairs and said that he thought she was really sick and that she felt cold to the touch. I went down to see her and she wasn't moving at first, but then she started to flail her legs and I picked her up to comfort her and with in less than a minute, she coughed vomited somekind of fluid on me and she was gone. It was so quick, I think I'm still shocked.

The other dog is running from room to room, out back then in again looking for her. It's awful. Thanks for the hugs!!
