The "We gotta clean up after Bush" argum
Oh boy, if I had a quarter for everytime I have run up against this argument, I really would be a very rich woman. As a matter of fact, Obama himself has used that argument pretty recently (several times).

Let's start with this:
Did President Bush make mistakes ? Well, of course he did. All presidents make mistakes and unpopular decisions. For instance, when the bailout bill was first put across his desk. He SHOULD HAVE used the power of the line item veto to weed out the crap from the bill. Should he have vetoed the entire bill, mmmm, probably. But, consider this... the same Congress that is in "power" now, was in power then (including good ole Barry). Given that little tidbit of fact, I believe if he had tried to veto the bill, Congress would have rallied the 2/3 majority to override the veto anyway. I think it's safe to say that GW was in a "D*** if you do, D*** if you don't" situation.

Let us also look at another little fact:
Senator Barack Obama was in the "Pelosi Congress" before he ever became president. While we are talking about "Senator" Obama... let's talk a little bit about his track record and just how "hard" he worked in Congress as a Senator.......

From 4/28/08 to 10/1/08 there were 96 votes taken in Congress. He did not vote in 81 of the 96 votes. Okay, well, to be fair... he was shirking his responsibilities to campaign for the presidency.

But... From 7/19/07 to 9/27/07 there were 99 votes taken in Congress. He did not vote in 57 of those votes. More than half ! Was he not hired to represent the "people" of his district in Illinois ? How can you represent them if you don't even vote more than half the time. And just what were you doing during the time you should have been present and voting ?? Hmmmmm.

And on 9/11/07 - he voted NO along with the democratic party against HR3074- which would have ensured that every motor carrier (trucking company) entering the U.S. from across the border would have to meet our vehicle safety standards. *He and the democratic party decided it would be a bad idea to have them meet regular safety standards that ALL U.S. vehicles have to meet  !! HUH ???

He also voted No along with the democrats to reject a bill (S1348) that would have declared English as the official language of the United States and of the U.S. Government. Huh ????

His votes on arbitrary issues were when he voted yes or no either way. If it involved any issue of substance, he either didn't vote or voted whatever his party voted.

Now, for one of the most important issues he actually did vote on....
H.R. 1424 - The "Bailout" bill - he voted YES ! This bill received 74 yes votes, 25 no votes, and 1 not voting.  There were 9 brave democrats who voted no. The rest were republican.  The number of Republicans who voted yes was - 34. Now... for all those that blame Bush for that... It's CONGRESS' fault, which includes the current president !!!

The first 6 years of the GW presidency we had a "republican controlled congress." I really didn't hear an awful lot of complaints at that point from either side.  The last two years was when everyone was complaining so darn much. Who was in charge of Congress at that point ? The democrats.

Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not tooting the horn of the republicans either. As a matter of fact, my two senators voted yes for that crappy bailout mess too. I need to make something really clear... I do NOT hate Obama or the democratic party- I am NOT a republican either. What I am is a CONSERVATIVE - I am for limited federal government- less intrusion into private lives by big government- more freedom- more power to the states- strong moral values. That's what I'm all about. I don't want the government telling me what to do in every aspect of my life. And the out of control spending that has been on a trend for a while now is just ignorant ! You cannot spend your way into prosperity. If jobs had been saved or created by the "stimulus" package, as Congress claims it has, then we would not be facing double digit unemployment across the nation ! That's just a fact you cannot ignore. The bailouts failed and the uberspending of the current administration has to STOP !!!!!

Good. English shouldn't be our official language. They should decide on the many languages of the Native Americans (since they were here first and all.)
