Ramblings of the past few days

I awoke this morning tired and still a little exhausted. It's a public holiday today so I'm just hanging out in my room listening to some happy tunes.

Last night was the Australian Open Mens Singles Final, aka the last match of the tournament.
It was Novak Djokovic from Serbia vs. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga from France. Novak won in 4 sets YAY! I must admit, I am a tennis nut. Well at least an Australian Open nut. Australian TV only ever broadcasts the Oz Open, but if it ever does broadcast other Grand Slams, like Wimbeldon, it's only ever on SBS and at ridiculous hours of the early morning.
Last week, I watched some incredible tennis, and watched as two of my favourites, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal were knocked out by the two in the final. It was rather saddening, but I'm still glad Fed still has his number 1 rank, though I'm certain Djokovic will one day claim that title.

Anyway last week I also saw the film Juno! It was so funny, witty, heart-warming and clever. I definitely recommend you to see it (if you're into that kind of film). Paulie Bleeker, Dancing Elk and Michael Cera are my new heroes/favourite characters/actor. He is utterly loveable in Juno and I plan to see another one of his movies (Superbad) because it's on TV on Thursday.

Over the Australia Day weekend, we caught a train to Sydney. We caught some live entertainment at The Rocks and I saw Kate Miller-Heidke. She's great in concert. Really fun, bubbly, lively, funny and entertaining.
We then went shopping and I bought two CDs. At $27 and $32, 'Juno Soundtrack' and 'The Panda Band - This Vital Chapter' were a huuuuuuge splurge for me (being a student without pocket money or a job, $59 is a lot to spend at one time). But I was glad I finally had the Panda Band album in my hands. I had been looking for it for months, and this was the first time I had ever seen it in a shop, so despite the cost, I immediatly knew I had to get it.

Triple J Hottest 100 was revealed over Australia Day too! I missed the radio broadcast because I was out and about around Sydney, I checked out the website and I am pleased to say that Operator Please got two songs (Ping Pong and Get What You Want) onto the listing of 100, and a few others I voted for managed to get there too. Powderfinger got a few, Silverchair did too.

New music that interests me: the CDs i purchased (kate miller-heidke, Juno soundtrack, the Panda Band), Clap your hands say yeah, the boat people, lior, the wombats, cassette kids, kimya dawson and this band I saw in Sydney but I can't remember what they are called :*(

My current playlist:
make it last - kate miller-heidke
zero! zero! - operator please
musical chairs - the panda band
anyone else but you - michael cera and ellen page
i'm sticking with you - velvet underground
bodies - little birdy
piazza, new york expectations - belle & sebastian
sunshine and clouds and everything proud - clap your hands say yeah

Keep groovin',
milkkk
