I agree with these comments on the embarassing misjudgement of Brown and the chancellor. But Miliband? I'd say he's the best talent on the govt's front bench, and to this effect i'd be tempted to fly in the face of your assertion regarding Britain's falling influence and remind you of David...

Yes, i agree, fantastic strategy to record the worst local election results many of us can ever remember!? The truth is, people have been so infuriated by the vast incompetence of the Brown government - the handling of Norhtern Rock, the data disks fiasco, the dithering over the General Election...

I'd say this is a cynical way of looking at things, and I take it a yearning for power is not one that you entertain? Surely people want to change things for the better at times?
