| Mike's Side-Republicans: Bite the Bullet

Conservatives in America, including many pundits, talk show hosts and voters may be shooting themselves in their feet this election year. And I just don’t get it. There’s an uproar over the apparent Republican nominee who’s about to go into battle against the Democrats this fall. Conservatives say John McCain isn’t their choice, he’s far too liberal and their man should have been there.
Conservatives are at odds with McCain on his positions on several major issues, not the least of which are illegal immigration and voting against the President’s tax cuts. McCain has sided with liberal Democrats on a number of bills and right-wingers see more of that kind of compromise in true conservative polices if McCain is elected. Heck, one unbelievably outspoken conservative author and pundit, Ann Coulter, says she’d rather vote for Hillary Clinton than John McCain.
Well I align myself with conservatives as well, and I have never voted outside the Republican circle but I think Coulter is out of her tree. And some of my colleagues in talk radio at the national level are raising those same kinds of doubts, while possibly not as pointed as Coulter’s solution.
I admire McCain’s gallant service to this country and his support of the War on Terror. I believe he does bleed red, white and blue. Does he goosestep with the party line? No, he’s his own man. Is he a bit of a loose cannon when things don’t go his way? He probably is; but would you want someone less convicted in his, or her, beliefs than that in office?
John McCain wasn’t my first or second choice for my party’s selection. But if he is that nominee, is it not better to throw our full support behind him? Let him do what he has been doing best and sensing what the American people love most about him, that he speaks his mind. And let him use that weapon to win the White House
I won’t go into my full dissertation on my disdain for both Clinton “candidates”, Bill and Hillary. Suffice it to say I can’t believe any Republican would even consider casting a vote in their direction as a viable form of protest for the choice of the Republicans.
We all, conservatives and Republicans, need to bite the bullet, unite behind our candidate and work to change his mind once we have the office. It may be too late for that. The naysayers may have already handed over the reigns. It will guarantee the pundits and talk show hosts a future in their careers for at least the next four years. That is, if those threatening our nation allow us to have four more years.

If either demo wins we can expect higher taxes, a gutted military and CIA (ala Bill), and the end of talk radio. If we need a Fairness Doctrine for radio, why not apply it to TV too.
At least McCain won't want to disarm and re-educate the masses that are clinging to their guns and religions out of frustration.
