Ebay Trust & Safety Department
01/26/2008
Here is my personal experience with the Ebay Trust & Safety Department. First of all, let me say that the experience has been a nightmare. They have purposely made it difficult to communicate by not publishing any way of communication other than email...
Throughout the months of October 2006 - September 2007, I purchased over 100 VHS video tapes of a Christian Telecast program. I purchased these videos through Ebay might I add. After I viewed them, I relisted the same videos back on Ebay to recoop my purchasing costs (I spent over $3,000 for these videos). The videos were used during the 1980's to air over television stations. These videos come directly from various tv stations all over the world. Since they did not come from the Ministry itself, I listed them as "copies". I soon received an email from Ebay that these items were "illegal copies" and were being removed. I explained that these were not illegal and updated the Item Description to reflect them as "originals", but from a TV station.
Ebay's Trust & Safety Department continued to remove the listings and suspended my account for 7 days. During that 7 day period, I continued to check my other Ebay accounts but did not buy or sell on any account. Soon, all of my accounts were suspended. After the 7 days, the account was supposed to become active again. I waited until the 8th or 9th day and then decided to open a new account (since the Trust & Safety Department seemed to do nothing). Once I opened a new account, I received an email that all of my accounts would be "suspended indefinately".
I have communicated to the Trust & Safety Department but continue to get a generic response. I imagine the person on the other end of my emails sitting back laughing at the fact that I am practically "begging" to have my account reactivated...
Doesn't Ebay's Trust & Safety Department have a consistent policy to adhere to???
It appears to be all run by the same mind. No matter how many times I prove the items as legal to sell, they continue to respond stating that my account will remain suspended indefinately.
I have included some information that I have not yet verified but will try this week. I have gathered this information from various sources.
Anyone out there who would like to purchase some old telecasts, email me at melman_79@yahoo.com.
