A half-caf with a double shot of cholesterol may not be on the menu at Starbucks, but a boost in LDL may be what you're ordering. Unfiltered coffees, such as espresso and Turkish coffee (and drinks based on these coffees like cappuccino and latte), contain a chemical called cafestol that raises LDL ("bad") cholesterol. Using a paper filter reduces cafestol to a negligible amount, so invest in one of the new espresso makers that uses a pod or paper filter.
