I agree that more people should volunteer and help the seniors and disabled. I have a dog that could not survive without me but I cannot brush nor bathe him. It would be nice to have somebody volunteer to help with him.
Now, I live in an apartment complex for disabled. Many are quads. One of our favorites is the ms woman who can only move her head. The apartment complex is only 18 units. If you want fun, come here. We have people of all ages, our youngest tennant is only 19 years old. Instead of being down and out, we laugh at the stupidest things but enjoy each other to the fullest. The complex is filled with spiritual blessings. We find getting old is a blessing. We are on fixed incomes but we are able to budget our finances to even have a few extra dollars. You need to find humor and joy. Find fun in mistakes. When you forget what you are doing, drop a piece of food, cannot say the words you want to, and in most things you do, find a way to laugh. We even laugh when we have to call 911. We kid about the cute firemen and who they favor. We find laughter if our wheelchairs get stuck in the mud. Just find humor. Don't sit and feel bad, find good. Yes, we sure do have problems with the government and all of the problems that seniors/disabled do. We work together to solve the problems. We work as a team and what one person needs help with another finds the answers. No matter how disabled a person is here, they have so much to give and they help in their own way. Try to perk up your neighbors. You will have fun. (posted in

Been there all of my 50 something years. It is a known fact that my mothers side of the family hated me and my siblings the same. I was teased and made fun of all of my life. I finally found the answer. If you want to go on feeling sorry for yourself, do not do this. The only way that I was able to change how people thought about me was to give me and every problem and person to our Lord. I began reading the Bible faithfully daily. Every time I found a sin that i did, I prayed for forgiveness. Inch by inch and year by year my life changed. I no longer have much to do with my blood relatives. The Lord guided me to a place where love is and it is extremely spiritual. I lost my health and all of my material posessions along with my family and friends. Yep, they were all taken, thank God. I have been given a new and wonderful life. Give everything to our Lord, ask forgiveness for sins, give all including people to our Lord, and focus only on living for our Lord. Happiness will come. However, if you do not want to find true happiness, do not follow my advice and be miserable. (posted in
