So, this is my first blog, and its just going to be a rant. I did it on here because I want to get it out, but I don't want the wrong person to read it. So I figured I'd find a new site where I can post things.
I am a manager/projectionists at a movie theater, and after working here for 4 going on 5 years, I've learned a lot about the public, and I have become more patient, and understanding as a customer. Just to let people know, there is so point in being mean and rude to employees of the place you are, unless that employee is being rude to you. For example, today I had started a movie, and I had to stay in the projection room to switch the lense of the projector a few times before the movie started. We play our movies at about the same volume every time for every movie. Well, I had put the volume on the setting that we usually use, and I was working with the lenses, when I hear some guy yell "THE MOVIE IS TOO LOUD!!" I (of course) was startled, being in a dark room, where ONLY EMPLOYEES are allowed. I looked around the corner and he yells again "THE MOVIE IS TOO LOUD! TURN IT DOWN!" I said ok, and turned it down a bit. Now, I know most people have never been into a projection room in a theater, and that's the way it is supposed to be. But, what made this guy think it was ok for him to wonder back there, and then yell at me? He could have gone out to the lobby, told one of the workers out there and they would have told me. OR he could have had a little bit of patience and I would have found out that it was too loud, when I went into the movie theater to check out the sound (and yes we do do that). And why did he have to yell? I would have fixed the volume whether he asked nice or yelled, so why not just be polite? Workers will do what you want them to do. And to keep the night getting better, the heat stopped working in that same theater. A lady had come out and told me (nicely) that the theater was cold, so I went in and turnd up the thermostat a degree. (we can't change the temp. too much, because the screen will warp) A little while later, that same asshole guy came out and says "I want my money back if you can't heat the Charlie theater!" In a real asshold voice. I asked "is it still cold in there?" and he goes "It's cold as hell in there." I told him i'd go look at it, and he just kept saying it was cold as hell. I offered to give him his money back but he said no, and walked back in. I called my boss and asked if there was some kind of trick to turn up the heat. He came down and found out it was broken, and threw one of his little...well huge hissy fits. He came out of the theater and kicked a box he started banging phones around, and cussing. He called the heating people and was SOOO mean to the person on the other end, all while customers are around! Talk about good customer service!!! I wanted to just walk out. I just dont understand why people think that being assholes, and rude are going to get them somewhere quicker.
I really don't think i should have a job with the public.
Anyways that was my rant for now, I guess if i remember my username and stuff I'll write later.
