| Why a Pocatello Twilight blog? |
OK Twilighters, I know it's been awhile coming, but I've got the Pocatello Twilight blog up and I'll continue to work on it. Part of me thinks I'm crazy (my husband is sure of it) because I honestly lack the time to keep up an entertainment blog and if anything, I should be keeping a business blog. BUT, the Twilight party was so much fun and has led to much more than I anticipated so we'll keep it going easier with our own blog. It really is best if everyone subscribe to the blog. I won't send out emails every time I blog. If you subscribe, you'll know each time I blog and those who aren't interested in several-times-a-week Twilight blogs won't have to read them, but you'll still know when something new is posted. I plan on posting when the New Moon invitations are going out. I am already a little concerned about the New Moon party. We had 250 guests, I can't do any more than that, there isn't enough space in the theatre. I am sure there are some people who won't return for whatever reason, but I've already had at least 50 people who saw us at the theatre, heard about us, or had friends come this year, who want to be put on next years guest list. I would like to give priority to this years guests, I only think that's fair, but it could get messy if people wait to long to RSVP and I've opened up the guest list to new invitees. The blog is one way for current guests to stay on top of what is going on.
My reasons for doing this are:
1.) Keep everyone up on party events. For the next 4 years we will be having Twilight parties for the movies and I honestly feel terrible when someone says "I haven't been getting the emails" or "I didn't know about that deadline." The blog takes some of the pressure off me having to make sure everyone is contacted and puts the responsiblilty on you, to check the blog.
2.) To unify the community. I just moved back to this area, where I grew up, and hosting the Twilight party gave me a strong sense of unity with the other women in the area. Regardless of our ages, lifestyles and backgrounds, we had something in common and were able to put everything aside to have fun together and make a memory.
3.) To put us on the map. After our party was over, I looked at and checked out the other Twilight parties put on by huge Twilgiht blogs, and fansites and honestly, ours was the best. Not to toot my own horn, but I was surprised at how many parties there were and how ours really stood out as different. Summit knows about us, but I want other Twilight fansites to know about us as well. I'm not sure why I want this, there's no money to be made with this, but it's just fun putting something special in Pocatello.
4.) To make it easier for Twilighters to find the best information fast. I spend hours searching the web for the juiciest Twilight info and rather than you spend time doing the same, I'll share.
5.) Communication. I receive some of the funnest emails from Pocatello Twilighters. I think it'd be fun for everyone to read each others comments and reply back, rather than hog the fun for myself.
6.) Serve a purpose. The charity we sponsored with our party was very grateful for the donations provided from our silent auction, not to mention good things that came to them from guests at the party (more on that later). I plan on sponsoring a charity with each party and using our fun to serve others (multitasking, you now, we're really good at it.) I really think we can make a difference in our community.
7.) Share the fun. Many of you said you had so much fun at the party. Well, we had so much fun planning it. It stretched the fun out for 3 months. There were many times I thought "we really need a picture of this to share with the guests." Now we can do that.
That's it. Lots of reasons for a party blog. How can I NOT do it with all those good reasons.
WARNING:
I type very quickly and am ALWAYS rushing. I rarely spell check or proof read. Pardon my mistakes, there will be many, I'm sure. I am also very long winded.
