GOD'S CORRECTION
Ok, you read the funny part, now this is the serious part and how I actually started going to the church which mailbox I hit....
I told you in the other testimony that my tires were bald, well, I had a friend that had some, my size, very good condition. He sold them to me for 20 bucks a piece for 2. God knows I don't really have money, so He had the friend to let me make payments....Thank you Jesus!! before I got the tires put on, that week we had an ice storm, so I was going no where that week for church...tv again. After everything melted, I got another friend to help me put the tires on. I was so excited to be able to finally drive, I had to rely on my parents and everyone to take me to the store, or where ever I had to go. So, I was happy to have my car back!!
Sunday, 3:00 pm, I was headed out the door to go to "the church", when low and behold, one of my new tires, was flat. Disappointed, I turned to go back in the house, to the tv once more. I said out loud, "Devil, you may have got me this week and you are laughing at me now, but now I know I must go to this church cause you are doing everything in your power to keep me from going. I don't care what you do, next week, I'm going no matter what!" He took that as a challenge, but I knew I had God on my side and I would win!!!!
All week long, it snowed, it blowed...no one came to help me with my tire, it was still flat. Sunday came, tire still flat. I was feeling a bit down...Then, at 2pm, I got on the phone. I called my dad first and said, "Hey, dad, you know that church that I hit the mailbox?" He said, "Yeah, what about it?" I asked him if he would take me there to go to church. He told me no, cause it was too cold and too much snow, "They probably aren't even having church today" he said. I hung up with him and found the church in the phone book and called....They were having church. So I called dad back and told him, but he still did not want to take me. So, I called my Aunt...told her the story, but she was sick. Called, my cousin...told her the story. By now it was 2:45pm, church starts at 3:30. So, I said, " I know it's short notice, but I have to go to church and I have a flat tire on my car, if I give you gas money, will you please take me?" This was her reply..."I went to church this morning and we had a great service. They said because of the weather, we would not be having 2nd service. So, I was going to go home and put on my PJ'S and loaf around.....But GOD came to me and said, No, keep on your Sunday clothes, you're going somewhere!!!!!! So, I was just sitting here waiting for where I was going...now I know" Pause for a moment, cause I am so praising God for His goodness..........................Ok...I feel good!!
We were on our way to "the church"!!!
We got there, and this is the part where the devil had to stick his nose in.
You know when you walk into a church, and there is always someone there to greet you and give you a bulletin?
Well, no one was even there to greet us. Devil said to me, "Some church, they sure are rude" I though, "Yeah"
We went in the sanctuary and there were people in there sitting.....PAUSE
This gets to the part where God's Correction comes to me, so stop reading if you don't want to hear it......
We sat down in the last pew, just looking around and talking to each other...I had my boys with me as well..girls were with their dad. I was waiting for someone, anyone to come over and say hello..We were new, and no one had greeted us yet!! I turned and looked and saw more people coming, I thought, "ok, now they'll say hello, cause they have to pass us!!!" They came in and walked right past us without talking. Devil said, "You better get out of this church as fast as you can after service." I said, "Yeah" Everyone just came in, sat down and prayed and read their Bible.....no chatting in the sanctuary...I couldn't understand it at all. Why did God want me to come to this ruddy pettuty church that doesn't even know how to say hello?
Service started, I didn't really too much understand the preaching, but, oh well, I was there. I can't even to this day tell you what he preached on. Finally, it was over...the preacher prayed, asked us all to bow our heads and close your eyes (my cousin did not close her eyes). I started to smell this awesome perfume comming towards me...but I didn't look up, I just thought, "Hmm, wonder what kind of perfume that is, I would love to have some of that." Keep in mind my cousin was looking around..... Church was over...I was running to the door to get out of there. Something stopped me, God said, "Better let the pastor know you were there, you did promise him you'd come and he will think you lied" So I decided to wait, and talk to the pastor. But I knew I would never come back, cause those people are rude!! Me, my boys, and my cousin, stood back in the corner, waiting for the pastor...he was taking forever to come out. Everyone else beat him out, isn't he supposed to be the first one out to greet the people? Well, evidently not at this church. I was getting annoyed..Then, a lady came up to me, said," Hi, are you here with someone?" I said, "Yes, my cousin back here." She said, "Oh, you just dropped in? How did you hear of our church?" I said, " I hit your mailbox!" She said,"My, Honey, you don't have to hit the mailbox to come to church!" She was a funny lady, so we talked for a min. then came another lady. She gave me a great big hug and said, " Hi, Sister, how are you?" I knew what she meant by sister, but how did she know I was a "sister". She said, "WHo do you know here?" I said, "The pastor" She said, "How do you know the pastor?" I told her I hit the mailbox....she was shocked...LOL...but then she said, "Do you know what? I prophesyed that someone was going to hit a sign or something and start coming to church here...here you are!!!" I thought, "yeah, sure, ok"
I was waiting for the pastor to come out, but he had went into his office, so the 2nd lady went to get him for me.
Finally, he came out, him and his wife. He said, "OH! That's who you are...I was trying to figure it out the whole service, but I couldn't see you good enough, but now I know" We had a great chat, and his wife invited me back next week to go to dinner with them after church, so that got me to go again anyways....It was great.
Me and my cousin went to the car to leave, she said, "Did you see that at the end of the service, when the preacher was praying?" I said, "No, what?" She said, "when he said to bow your heads and close your eyes, I was looking around and I saw a fog or mist come in up around the pastor and out in the sanctuary." I told her I smelled a smell that was so good....It was the Holy Ghost that had come down.
What was the correction for me here?
1. When you come into the house of God, in the sanctuary, there should be no nonsense going on, chatting and all...we are to prepare ourselves for the service in prayer and reading the word (Bible). Chatting is for in the vestibule.
2. We don't need to be "greeted" and be "seen", we are there for God, and to hear His word.
3. Everyone there were so friendly, the devil didn't want me to see that part, he wanted me to leave right away thinking everyone was rude.
THANK GOD FOR TRUE FRIENDS AND FAMILY IN CHRIST!!! |
