GOD DEFINITELY KNOWS HOW TO DRIVE!
I am a single mother of four children. I was hopping from church to church, not really getting anything at all out of the sermons. I knew there had to be more than flowers and rose gardens. I know Jesus loves me, but I also knew there was correction and I wasn't getting the correction at the churches I chose to go to. So, I hung it up and prayed, "God, if you want me to go to church, you find me the church and take me there, cause you know what I need and want and I am not finding it through these churches. Until then, I will stay home and watch it on TV." That was about November of 2004. Come December I was still at home: No answer from God.
I had an appointment on the 22nd of December in the next town, about 15 - 30 minutes away. I asked my mother if she would take care of the children that day, and she said yes. Well, I knew then that something was going to happen to me, but not sure what, cause my mom never would watch all four children.
I was on my way. I went to my appointment and nothing happened. Well, I had a gift certificate at a known store. I thought I would go there before I went home to get my oldest son (three at the time), a gift for Christmas. I did that and still nothing happened.
On my way home, it started to rain/snow mix. I had very bald tires on my car. I knew at that moment I had to be careful, but get home as soon as I could. I went down a road that was just before my turn to head home. I got close to the stop sign, and my tires started to slide and there were two vehicles in front of me. I quickly prayed, "Lord, please don't let me hit the van in front of me, please!"
All the sudden I let go of my steering wheel, and it started to turn on its own ... towards the ditch and a mailbox. For some reason, I really wasn't scared; just glad that I was not going to hit the van.
I hit the mailbox - hard! It flew off and the box hit my windshield, but it did not break the glass. The car came to a stop. At this time, there was a covering of snow on the ground and I could not back out of it from the slant of the ground and the bald tires on my car. So, I sat there for a little while just thanking God that no one got hurt and that my kids were not with me. Then, I looked up and it was a churches' mailbox that I hit! I started to laugh and said, "God, is this where you want me to go to church at?"
I sat there for a bit until someone came by to see if I was okay. Get this - the two vehicles that I almost hit didn't even stop or anything to see if I was okay, and I was right by a busy highway. It appeared no one was going to stop, as a matter of fact.
Finally, someone stopped to help. I went to his house to use his phone -- he lived three houses down. He was very nice to help. I called my dad to tell him and he was all-ready in town, so he stopped where I was to help me get my car out of the ditch. We had to end up using a chain to get it out. The mailbox pole had a big metal bar on the bottom and my car was sitting on top of it. To everyone's surprise, it did no damage to my car underneath.
After we got my car out - the guy that let me use his phone - told me that I had to go over and tell the pastor what happened. I was afraid to do that, preacher or not: he will probably be mad. I worked up nerve to go tell the pastor while my dad got the mailbox together and took the chain off my car.
The pastor lived right next door, so I walked over and knocked on the door. The door opened; it was his son that answered. I asked him if his dad was there, and he said, "Yes." He came around the corner and said, "I woke up from my nap and looked out the window, and someone was on top of the church mailbox over there. Was that you?" He was laughing, so I was glad that he wasn't mad.
I said," Yes ... that would be me."
We talked for a minute and then my dad and a police officer came to the house. Someone had called the police. I was really nervous then. The officer came in the house and was asking what happened and the normal questions that they ask. He said, "Since it was on private property, I can't site anyone." I was sure glad of that. Then he said, " It is up to the church what they want to do, if they want to press charges."
I'm thinking: Wow, press charges? That's kind of harsh for only a mailbox!
The pastor said, "Well, I'll talk to the trusties of the church and they will probably just put 2 2x4's together and put the box back on; no need to press charges."
What relief I felt at that moment. Then the police officer took out two cards with his name on it and he said, " This is my card, my name is Officer MIRACLE if you have any questions, just give me a call."
At that moment, I started to laugh. I said," I'm sorry, but what did you say your name is?"
He said, "Christopher Miracle" (Christopher means sent by God). So, I told them the story of how I asked God to send me to the church He wanted me to go to.
I then asked the service times. I still have the officer's business card and I still go to that church. No one can tell me God does not have a sense of humor and He definitely knows how to drive!
God Bless you all!

Wow! God can use strange ways to answer prayers - even if a person needs a two by four to get directions! (Chuckles). . .
Nice post!
