The worse thing to do is take a long time in explaining yourself. Its just makes you suffer for longer aswell as the lad in question.
You want to sit him down and be calm. Make him feel comfortable and try your best to make you body language less uneasy and more at ease. He will feel less out of place and uncomfortabe that way.
Explain that you have enjoyed the time you and him have spent together and that you love your friendship. But lately you have been admireing an other and that you want to remain on good terms. Dont promise friendship if you yourself is unsure of it. It just makes the aftermath more complicated as sometimes it doesnt work that way.
Because saying it makes a cushion for him and youself to fall on because sometimes there isnt nothing else to say so its said.
Once it said let him make the next move if he wants to stay and talk its his choice or if he wants to go just let him.
