How many people would you say believe in Divine Right? The God given right that says you are destined to be something because God made you for that very purpose. Many kings thought this back in the day. For example, some kings were born into their thrown and felt that God made them for that purpose. They would then abuse their powers because they couldn't make a mistake. After all, God knew it would happen.
If you do, or do not, believe in Divine Right - would you say you believe in Fairy Tales? Do you think every thing always works out in the end? Do you believe that life is a just a series of adventures that ends up well and perfect?
Do you believe in magic? Do you think someone can predict the future? Or that someone could teleport or fly?
In your expert opinion, would you say that everything happens for a reason? Do you think flowers are made for a reason? Do you think war and gore happens for a reason?
And what about conformity. Should everyone be the same person, wear the same thing, believe in the same thing? What would you guess?
Most people would say Divine Right is crap. It's people given an easy life, doing whatever they want, with an excuse. They say, "Oh, well God sent me to do THIS work." Most people would then agree with me, then, if I said life was not a fairy tale. It doesn't always end perfect, and it isn't always a "fun." Life can be very difficult and isn't scripted. It can suck - it can rock. Either way, not a fairy tale. I bet you can predict the answer to the next question. Not many people believe in magic. Not many people think people can fly, or spread water with their hands. Not many people think magic is something to base their life off of; not many people even believe in it. A few hardcore destiny believes may say that everything happens for a reason; but when humans have been having bloody wars for their entire existence, I fail to see the point. And when people torture others, for no reason, what's the reason for that? What's the reason for expensive things, and scary movies? What's the reason for any of this? No one really has an answer, the world's just messed up. Thats why I'm left to believe that everything does not happen for a reason. And conformity? No. Individualism is what got us this far. If people were all the same, the human race would never change, never advance, and life would be much more boring. So, AGAIN, I am left to conclude that not everyone should be the same.
Now, you may be wondering why I slapped all these random myths together.
In every religious book there is a man (example Jesus, Mohamed, and etc) that is destined by God to be great. [Divine Right]. That person then does many great things, to help his fellow human strive. In most all religions there is a man in the holy book with super human powers (example the devil, Jesus, Moses and etc). This person may use his powers for good or bad; but quite clearly has powers. This person may become a snake, turn water and bread into fish and wine, or may spread water with his bear hands. (Magic). Also, most holy books are written as a fairy tale. Un-explainable things happen, adventures go threw, but the human life is overall better near the end of the novel. (Fairy tales). And, when it comes to religion, a lot of people just believe in it without question. All around the world the people are born into their religion and just join it. (Conformity).
So no one really believes in anything that makes religion, but seem to believe in religion.
Why?
I think it's because humans need hope.
Religion is based mainly on hope. Hope that there is a better after life. Hope that everything will work itself out.
Maybe there's no reason or truth behind religion (but, both ways are unproven) but there is hope.
Hope may exist. Hope may not.
We never know.
With God (or belief in him) we have a positive outlook and we have HOPE.
Without him, it's almost hard to believe.
