Well, we found out the owner wanted us to be his slave laborers pretty much. He insisted on only a year's worth of discounted rent, which equalled about $4800. If you read my blog about being nervous, you'll see that there was WAAAAY more than that in labor costs. He can find someone else to do the work, as we are not going to fix it up and then him try to sell it to us for market price after never fully compensating us for our time. He insisted that we would have the first option of buying it, but just wasn't willing to bend at all considering the amount of labor the house needs. A bit disappointed, but glad we were able to see the forest for the trees before we were in too far to find our way out.
