Well, technically Gary, IN. But I flew into Chicago and hung out here.
Bien's mom had knee surgery the other day so we couldn't hang out this trip. Lollapalooza started on 8/3, but I couldn't stay the whole weekend for that. Pearl Jam played the Vic Theater, a tiny place, Thursday night but I couldn't find tickets. That would have been awesome. And I arrived too late to see the Phils win a day game at Wrigley. Frustrating timing for this whole trip.
Instead, I came into Chicago and went to this little neighborhood called Lincoln (Heights? I forget). Went to a restaurant Josh recommended o get deep dish pizza, it was excellent, but not something I'd want to eat regularly. The crust is made of cornbread... its a very dense meal. After that I drove to Wrigley and looked around a bit, the place is tiny, and downright decrepit. I'm sure its awesome to catch a game there, but I wouldn't that to be my hometown stadium.
From there I wanded my way down Lake Shore Drive, a cool highway between the City of Chicago and Lake MIchigan. I got some cool pictures as he sun set. Not quite sure why I keep gravitating towards bodies of water wherever I go....
I got to my hotel in Indiana and realized I still hadn't eaten dinner, but didn't really want to. Yet, I could spend $25 on my expense account for dinner... so I came up with a brilliant idea. I went to the market and bought non-perishable items (granola, snack bars, jello, boxes of tea) to bring home. To be clear, I figured out a way to get Genex to buy my groceries.
Hearing went well, I won in about wenty minutes. However, the hearing before us ran nearly an hour late, and traffic sucked, so I missed my flight and am now sitting in the airport in Chicago for an extra two hours. I actually spend more time here than I do at Philadelphia International, because of all the layovers.
Its an odd feeling to fly home Friday afternoon, starting the weekend at home by travelling....
