hello! my name is maria and the whole reason i started this blog was so that i could put my thoughts out on different songs and what they mean to me. a bible study of sorts, only with music not the bible. The first song that i will be 'studying' is called Great Are You by the band downhere. i will start by posting the song lyrics, and a link where you can listen to the song (for those who are ACTUALLY intersted haha)
How I love Your works
My God, My King
How I love Your works
My God, My King
Your Name rings on the plains
Like a not so distant train
And Love and history are near
In the flowers that you make
The flowers that you make
CHORUS
Because I'll never hold the picture
Of the whole horizon in my view
Because I'll never rip the night in two
It makes me wonder
Who am I, Who am I, Who am I
And great are you
How I love Your Word
My God, My King
How I love Your Word
My God, My King
Your love cuts through these pages to my heart
As you grieve our sins, right from the start
And sacrifice and paradise are in
The plans that you made, The plans that you made
so this song means a lot to me because first of all the band is incredible. but not only that, they always have the most incredible way of putting exactly what needs to be said into words.
Every day when I wake up I have to take a bus to work and as much as it sucks I always make sure I look around for signs of my Lord. Small things like flowers, the wind, the blue sky, the way the clouds are moving across the sky, those are blatant displays of the Lord in my every day life. They are gifts from him, ''in the flowers that you make''. The thing is, it really IS hard to imagine a Lord this large and great to be someone who loves us each individually. If He is so important, than why does he bother himself to stop and say hello to somene small like me? Even if it is something small such as the wind we have to remember every day that he DID stop and think of us. Each of us individually. It makes you think ''who am I?'' who ARE we that this great God would love us every day repetitively! He knows that we are not perfect but He forgives us and plans everything ahead of time! everything was meant to be according to His plan. He is so great and loving and giving and yet he takes time for each of his children. I will never be someone great enough to look at the ''whole horizon'' or ''rip the night in two'' and it just goes to show more and more how big He is! Not only CAN he do this but he MADE that horizon! He CREATED the night! So let us remember every day, how great our Lord is, but that he loves us no matter who we are.
