 one week experiment
After reading a very inspiring testimonial in the book "Blatant Raw Foodist Propoganda", I'm trying out a very simple all raw plan for a week to see how this feels:

fruit and/or fresh juice all morning
raw nuts and/or seeds/nut butter/dried coconut mid day
salad and veggies galore in the evening

I did this yesterday and felt fabulous! But I'll admit I feel spacey today from detoxing, cause Friday and Saturday I ate beef hot dogs (although organic and preservative free from Whole Foods), with wheat buns and had sweets, alcohol, etc, so this is kickin out toxins pretty fast and I'm kinda stupid today. I'm hoping that clears up with a night in bed early and lots of water.

But yesterday I did this and was surprised at how satisfied I felt. Sounds so sparse but a tablespoon each of sunflower seeds, almonds, pecans and dried coconut is filling, and I made these little balls out of almond butter, coconut, sunflower seeds, cacao nibs and raw agave. I don't think lack of calories or protein is an issue at all with this plan. In the morning, you get hydration, fiber and sugar from the fruit, plus I do a superfoods smoothie to get antioxidants and a TON of nutrients from the Macro/Miracle Greens powder, then mid day you get good fats and protein (plus more fiber) and in the evening you get alkaline, cleansing greens and veggies.

I could always add to that template, like I did last night at around 8 when I blended rice milk, almond butter, raw cacao powder, half a banana and agave for a smoothie treat. So yummy.

I think the occassional cooked veggies will be good for a while too, like a baked yam and really nutrient dense things like that.

But in all honesty I just drank half a can of Coke Classic. I took a powernap at lunchtime and woke up so fuzzy headed from detoxing I needed something to reign it in but didn't want to eat anything else. This is keeping me afloat til I can go home and be stupid without witnesses. Just the kitties. ;)

So we'll see how it goes...I could see being bored with the nuts every day, or all of it, but the key is rotating different things in and out and creativity. I like the aspect of mono meals to keep it simple and enjoy the flavors, but I'll need to keep it interesting too.

Right now I have a container with a mixture of soaked almonds, raw pecans, raw sunflower seeds and dried coconut along with some dried flax seeds crisps. It is actually filling and taking me a while to eat.

I could be on to something here!
