book list - personal favorites on nutrition, etc
I thought it might be nice to share a list of the books I have read over the past 20 years or so on nutritional and healthy living, since it is a personal passion and it's also something people ask me about and for all the time. I have not placed them in any particular order with the exception of the #1 spot, which I gave to the book I feel has made the biggest overall lifelong impact for me personally.

1.) Fit for Life, by Harvey and Marilyn Diamond.

2.) The Body Ecology Diet, by Donna Gates

3.) Staying Healthy With Nutrition, Dr. Elson Haas

4.) Marilu Henner's Total Health Makeover

5.) Blatant Raw Foodist Propaganda, by Joe Alexander

6.) Raw Food Detox Diet & Raw Food Life Force Energy, by Natalia Rose (2 books)

7.) Sunfood Diet Success System, by David Wolfe

8.) Detox Your World, by Shazzie

9.) The 80/10/10 Diet, by Dr. Douglas Graham

10.) Green for Life, by Victoria Boutenko!

Now mind you, for every book listed I'd guess that I've read about 4 or 5 additional books on nutrition and healthy living, but these are the ones that have really taught me valuable things I DO use in my everyday life to great positive effect.

I particularly recommend Fit For Life, for a few reasons; it explains, exhaustively, the reasons to avoid dairy in general and introduces both the food combining principle and the energy ladder concepts, both of which I absolutely attest to changing my own life and well being vastly. It's also easy to find, very affordable, a surprisingly quick and easy read and I think it's exceedingly well done.  When someone asks me for ONE program and ONE book to focus on, since I tend to synthesize many puzzle pieces to craft my own wellness program, this is the one I go to the most.

I once recommended this to an NHL Strength and Conditioning Coach after he and I spoke at length and apparently he was sufficiently convinced by my own vibrance and knowledge to follow my advice, which was to buy, read and folow the Fit For Life paradigm (I don't say diet because there's no point in a temporary change really) for at least one month and see for himself how it felt, whether he agreed with the principles or not.  To my surprise, he did just that and RAVED about the positive changes in his health, energy and overall enjoyment of life and food.  And this was a man who was already in what conventional medicine would call "great shape", but there is always room for improvement. ;)  He was so convinced, he bought dozens of copies of the book, handed them out to the team and changed what was served on the pre-game meal table! Now THAT had me buzzing for weeks!! They say mighty oaks from little acorns grow, but this was an exceptional example of that for me.

Every book listed above has given me wisdom, knowledge (not the same thing), illumination and valuable tools for inching ever closer towards the radiant explosion of health, love and joy that is everyone's birthright.
