Today I begin testing a theory, upon myself, about combining the Master Cleanser lemonade fast with a fruit fast.
About 10 years ago, I undertook my first MC cycle, fasting and drinking only the special lemonade and additional water for 10 days. It wasn't easy but it was eye opening for me in that I experienced for myself how much more energy I had once I got past the 3 to 5 day hump. I was waking up about 5am naturally, which is odd for me, brimming with energy and mental clarity, I was working out, hard, having a great time with all the extra energy.
The longest MC cycle I've ever done was 21 days, which I did about 2 years ago and then followed that with a fruit fast for about 3 weeks. And when I say "fruit fast" I mean it very literally; no other food was eaten besides fresh fruit, in proper combinations, and additional water was taken as needed. I was pooping about 5-6 times per day, and after about 10 days of eating like that, I literally had NO body odor, no bad breath, clear glowing skin and my shit literally did not stink! LOL
So as I felt myself desiring a little spring cleaning on the inside right now, I pondered whether I wanted to do the ever ambitious MC or a fruit fast. And when thinking about the aspects of the MC that aren't quite gentle or perfected, I realized that a combination or synthesis of those elements might just be perfect, at least for me.
When doing the Master Cleanser fast, the one conundrum (aside from hunger and fogginess) is getting the bowels to move and release the stored toxins and old crap along the intestinal tract, which is tricky when no food is being eaten. Some people do the suggested salt water flush, I do not. I tried that ages ago and could barely get down a few mouthfuls before I'd involuntarily vomit. And it just feels too harsh for my sensitive body. I've also tried so many brands and varieties of teas designed to stimulate the peristaltic action of the intestines to facilitate bowel movements and most of them are dreadfully harsh and result in awful cramping, that literally had me doubled over at times even when sipping just a bit of the tea brewed at half strength. Perhaps it's my own sensitive nature, but I found all of those teas just too much for me. I stumbled upon Triphala as a very mild, effective and non-habit forming substitute a few years ago. It's an Ayurvedic blend of 3 fruit extracts designed to tonify the intestines, is even suggested as a daily supplement, and it helped me to keep things moving through a few MC cycles.
But as I readied myself for a cleanse, I felt strongly that I wanted to do it without supplementation, without special teas or artificial means of clearing the colon. And then I thought to myself "why not drink the Master Cleanser lemonade throughout the morning, until mid-day, and then consume ONLY fresh fruit until 6 pm, returning then to lemonade as needed?" That way I am getting the hydrating and alkalizing effect of the lemonade, I'm allowing my body a tremendous break from digestion, since fruit is almost self-digesting and loaded with prana (life force), and I won't have to deal with the overwhelming cravings because I'll have luscious spring/summer fruits to look forward to each day, while downshifting back to liquid only in the evening. Seems like the best of both worlds as the fruit consumption every day will gently but very effectively cleanse the colon as well, pushing out any old toxins being brought out or that have been stuck there for ages.
I'm not sure how long I'll do this but I did start this morning. I have a 1.5 liter bottle of MC lemonade, sans cayenne which I perfer to just add here and there or take in capsules for the mucous loosening benefits, and fruit for this afternoon; a honeydew melon, grapefruit, banana and an avocado for satiety of a savory craving. That will also be my source of good fats during this cleanse and the amount consumed will still be small enough to give my body a considerable break. I'll consume the fruits in proper combinations as well, meaning the melon needs to be eaten alone, waiting about 15-20 minutes before eating any other fruit, and after a bit of avocado I'd need to wait about 45 minutes to an hour.
So I shall see how this feels and how I fare this week...I'll carry on with it as long as I can, and as long as it seems to be helping. I do agree that for a fast/cleanse to be truly effective one needs to stay with it for at least a week, so I'll start with that and go from there.
This way I am combining the benefits of the MC lemonade (hydrating, alkalizing, healing, cleansing) with the high-water content, prana, nutrition, ease of digestion and colonic health of fresh fruit and the assistance of proper food combining. Should be interesting!
