 30 days - for me
Ok, it's time I face my committment phobias one step at a time...I'm starting a 30 day, VERY do-able self made program for detoxing, rejuvinating and shedding old patterns and addictions.

Rather than go balls out, detox too quickly and then jump off because my lungs go berserk, I've got a new plan...I think it might be better. ;)

I am dropping wheat(gluten)/dairy/soy/meat/sugar altogether
I am running at least 3x per week, for whatever duration/distance feels great
I am doing Kundalini yoga every day, even if just a few moments
I am drinking 2-4 quarts of water daily
I am drinking one green smoothie per day
I am eating cooked veg daily

Here's how I suspect this will look:

morning rise & shine drink (rice or almond milk with yerba mate tea & spices)
lots of water between waking and mid-day
green smoothie either sipped throughout or for breakfast/post run/yoga treat
as much fruit as I like
scrumptious cooked veg for dinner or lunch (depends on how organized I am!)
a run followed by yoga or yoga solo

No supplements, no self imposed mileage or timing minimums on exercise (and let's see how it feels to be free with that), no complex programs, simple, yummy meals

The green smoothies ensure I will take in more nutrients and fresh greens than if I ate several salds per day, the cooked veg will add the comfort feeling of warm foods, the fruit will cleanse and satisfy the taste for sweet things, the water intake will keep things flushing out, the exercise will keep my lungs from acting up as I cleanse gently, and the green smoothies and fruit will go to work on naturally cleansing the intestines.

This way I can get away from prepared foods, sandwhiches, improper food combining, addictive foods and drinks, etc without feeling restricted or deprived. I actually found myself looking at a carton of brussel sprouts and about drooling all over them yesterday...that tells me something. I'll choose my veg dishes intuitively by what appeals to my tummy and eyes, not the mind, which is now spinning with paradigms.

No expectations, no severe restrictions or complicated cleansing regimes. Natural, simple, quick, easy, loving. It's also a very alkalizing program, which is a key to long, vibrant life...we are like little flowers, aren't we?

I'm putting together puzzle pieces, and this is what I came up with. When I think about this combination of elements, it feels joyful, tasty and energizing. I'm listening.

Cool! Not sure how well I'd bode without my iron supplements daily, ha, but other than that, this looks awesome! :-) I have to make me some of those green smoothies...

Don't I know it! Food has always been an issue for me, as is control, so know what you mean. But when cleansing or facing your addictions or triggers sometimes it helps to see the cravings or detox symptoms, even the negative ones, as a sign that YOU are winning the war! And in the same way that an airplane does not travel a straight line to get from point A to point B, and is of course more often than not but still makes it to its destination on time, little skips, hops and jumps from your path are all part of the beauty of your own journey. ;)

What is in the green smoothie?

Green Smoothies vary, there are probably thousands of variations, but the base is either a cup of water or coconut water to start, adding things like spinach, kale, romaine, parsley, chard, etc and blending until the greens are liquified and the blender is about 2/3 full, then adding fresh fruit of choice and sometimes more water (if a thinner consistency is desired) until the blender is just about full. This gives you about a pint of very easy to digest greens that taste great thanks to the addition of fresh fruit. You can also add things like mint, lemon, lime, fresh ginger, etc.

Thanks for the info!

Yeah its been quite awhile since I have done any purging or anorexic things. Depression is a major player behind my problems. I am seeing a Dr. We have been trying different meds. I hope this latest cocktail will really work out.

Figure I should try some healthy ways to loose weight. I have loads of exercise stuff, but food is an issue, and I don't necc. know what to do as far as what to eat when I am exercising. If I am not eating right all the exercise doesn't help. So I have been looking into different things to try that are healthy for me.

Thanks for writing.

Yes, exercise isn't really the way to lose weight, and I say that having been a total athletic training geek for about 20 years. It's a way to sculpt the clay, but not really an effective way to shed the clay...it's more about remembering that joyful energy of recess when you were a kid and how good it felt to move, breathe, laugh, etc. That's the purpose of exercise in a positive sense. It does come down to what you are eating, how much, etc. I hope that at some point you can cease all meds for depression, because putting a band-aid on a hatchet wound just isn't healthy. But you do what you have to in order to keep breathing and you find your own way.

Things like yoga, tai chi, etc are great ways to move your body, stimulate your natural energy and to tap into something deeper. Perhaps give one or both of those a try as well? They can become your primary therapy, really.
