What can be said of love,
that tired old theme?
When love is not present
one can only speak of want of love.
Days are fared with hopeful pessimism
when love is long alluding.
In the past there is old love, stale love, worn love...
anticipations which have not been met.
Want of love is like love for love's sake.
Love as a hope or wish.
Love craved like a cigarette.
Old flames extinguished.
And, if new love is found
how long until it fades to old?
This desire for love
is like a game of cat and mouse.
A chase of instinct with thought on the pursuit.
Once caught it becomes a dead and useless thing.
