The
Trinity
When
we explore the scripture seeking to learn about the nature of God
certainly the primary teaching is that there is One God. That that
God is the one and only I AM (not dependent on anyone or anything).
We
also learn that God is a Spirit. That God is faithful (unchanging)
and true (real in Greek thought).
But
then it gets more complex. We find God promising “I will pour out
my spirit”. We find Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane praying to
the Father and on the cross praying “Father, forgive them for they
know not what they do”. (Another problem because it has long been
understood that a sin is “the willful transgression of the known
law of God”).We find Jesus telling his disciples to remain in
Jerusalem until the Holy Spirit comes upon them.
So,
I believe in “The Trinity” with the understanding that it is a
flawed attempt at descrobing God's nature.
