I
don't believe in luck
While
in high school rather than go to church with my parents I went (and
was very involved in, singing in the choir, etc.) another local
church.
The
pastor was a man who today would be considered a “hard-nosed”
preacher but he (I believe) was a good man and he taught me a lot.
One of the things that he preached and that I've never forgotten was
that he didn't believe in “luck”. He expanded on that. He said,
“as a Christian I'm a child of God and God doesn't just leave me
out here playing the odds, hoping for the best. No, I believe in
God's grace, God's active power and goodness working in my life”.
So,
when something good happens rather than “thank my lucky stars” I
thank the God who created me and has saved me by His grace”.
