6:03 pm--
I ave class in approximately 57 minutes. I just finished reading the spark notes for a book called " The History of Tom Jones, A Foundling". Dont ask me what its about... but if you love drama.. .and i mean social drama.. this is the book for you.. If you can handle more than 5 characters per story... read something else. Actually, I would have to suggest that more people read. I'm not claiming that illiteracy is a growing epidemic.. or something silly like that.. I just that we, as a whole, watch far too much television.. We all have our shows.. those consume hours upon hours of our lives on a monthly basis. Then Movies, which, i must say, are better than shows, depending on the ones that you watch. Movies can inspire.. so can television, but i think that televsion is more "audience based" as opposed to "thought" based. People just don't read books. Articles maybe.. if its about an embarassing story... or how to get better milliage off of your motorcycle. Something insignificant. But over all.... Very little reading.. or writting for that matter. The most writting people has to deal with text messaging, or typed on some hand-held device... and honestly.. if it wasn't for schools and stardized tests.... would anyone use a pencil? a pen? Do people remember using fountain pens? I bet there are people reading this who dont even know what the hell that is.. and most of them are older than me... i would hate to say. I think the symphony of fingers caressing keys on a keyboard isn't bad... its not nearly as annoying as the pitter patter of fake nails on a cell phone with messages that say " ey waz up wit U". My friends dont send those messages to me... why? because i dont like spending 10 cents on a stupid message that was improperly written from some who really doesn't care about my well being.. Honestly.. how often do you really mean " how are you?". How often do you look someone in the eye and ask them that question, and are seriously concerned about that well being? This arguement is not one sided... what about those people who are asked " how are you"? Does everyone have to simply answer "ok" or "fine" or "alright"? such simple unhappy words? Why are we so passive? why cant we proudly proclaim that today fucking rocks. Or that you are simply miserable? Or that you feel fat, or just not sexy today? ( thats generally for the women... i never heard a man tell me that he feels fat, or not feeling sexy).... I guess the moral of the story is...
Read books ( real books... not comics) And Care about the stranger next to you, or that friend you walk by every morning.... Get smart, and get nice...
