New jobs are always stressful times, especially as the jobs become better as you move onwards and upwards in life. He may have some self-doubt creeping in - - he needs to trust that they made the right decision in hiring him. The first hit he turns out will help fix that, but in the meantime some physical exhaustion might be a safer alternative than pills ... I'm confident you're doing your part on that front, but maybe as a change of pace you guys could hit the park as a family. A little goofing around in the fresh air with his boy would do him good, he just needs the energy to get started.
