 the Human Race
Am I the only one who finds it extremely frustrating that we don't know where we came from!?
Yes, I know we came from the womb... haha.
But I mean, you don't know EXACTLY how we got here, there's theories, but no actual truth.
When I was younger, my mother told me the story of Adam and Eve, I thought that is actually what happened.
Until I took Religion in Grade 9, and my teacher told me it was a parable...
I don't know why I believed that in the first place.
I think that's why I'm so determined to find out how the human race became.... existent.
What I found interesting in Science class, is that we're made out of star dust!
I thought that was the coolest thing.
It makes sense though, since the stars hold all the elements.
But it doesn't explain how we came to be...
Well I'm going to stop whining now.
How do you guys feel about this?
Does it bug you?

I have no problem believing in the Bible explanation as to how we got here on Earth. The fact that the Bible states that we are made out of the elements of the Earth and then thousands of years later, Science catches up and validates that the human being is made up of the elements of the Earth only gives thought to how did in ancient time without a microscope and the equipment to prove this --it was proclaimed gives me more reasons to believe this claim of Scripture. Also in the Bible, in the book of JOB, it is stated that the earth is round and suspended in air and again thousands of years later, Science through research discovers that indeed the earth is round and Job seemed to know this without the aid of a telescope.

Please remember that your 9th grade teacher is only teaching you about her "faith" or "lack of faith" in the Bible. Just because she stated it is a parable does not make it so.

Where was this teacher when the earth was formed out of nothingness that she is given so much credibility that she is able to cancel out the words and belief of your own parent?

If you look at the human body and discover how the cells communicate to one another and the absolute magnificient function of the human body, I don't see how an Intelligent Being as the Architect can be removed from the equation. I read the Science books and find myself praising God because the human body is so brilliantly designed to the degree that its as if stating that the this very organized mechanism just resulted out of a Big Bang and I have yet to encounter any type of "explosion" that a well designed computer just come out of the debris the "explosion" has caused. I have never heard that we are made out of star dust and I am in college and just completed a Science class, that stated we are made of the same identical elements of this earth! Very consistent with what the Bible stated. Out of the dust of the earth mankind was formed!

I respect your right to believe as you deemed best and accurate, but please do your own homework independent of anyone elses influence and see if you still reach the same conclusion of this "science teacher." Also, what people keep forgetting is that science is not an exact art, for many times science is based on theory although in many places it is presented as absolute.

Have you ever wondered why one day you will hear that margarine is better for you than butter and then a couple of generation latter they flipped the script and tell you that butter is more natural and better than margarine. Which goes to show you, science is always being redefined and "updated."

I finally realized that one should fret about this issue and just love and spread a smile everyday and be great for our time on earth. Who really knows about birth or death, we can just live for the present.

I find it interesting that miss notes brings up a semi-religious topic and suddenly a bible fly(versus a bar fly?:P) shows up. Two different ones on two different posts so far.

Star dust? Um, Golden Compass much? I didn't think anyone would bring that theory into play regarding origin. But, that is the theory of that book now made into a movie.

I had a teacher once tell my class that we were descended from many species...not just other humans. She said their are elements of many generations past down....so we could very well have specks of dinosaur in us. I forgot about that til just now. I dont know if there is any truth to it. But, I think of the Charlie Brown Christmas when Lucy(I think) picks on Pigpen for spreading dust everywhere...and Charlie says to think positive because the dust might be from past civilizations.

Keep working on this one. Right now, it is just a thought...but with some effort, you could have a well thought out theory/philosophy.
