| World's Largest Insect (PICTURES) |
We made a trip to Sedona, Az. while my son was visiting from Oregon the end of April. What a wonderful place. It is like being in the Grand Canyon without having to hike down in and back out. The Red Rock Country is so beautiful and there is so much Native American history in the area. We visited 2 cliff dwellings and saw pictographs and artwork the Indians created so long ago. There are so many hiking trails you could spend months exploring the area and still not see it all.
While exploring past the end of a designated trail, (what the Franks' family does best!) in Fay Canyon, we came across the biggest centipede in the whole entire world. This thing was so large I could not believe my eyes. This gigantic creature probably eats small mammals for dinner such as rabbits and prarie dogs! I had nightmares that night camping that he was going to sneak inside my SUV and take a big bite out of my leg. Seriously the photo does not do the prehistoric insect justice he was at least 8" long!
He is why you do not sleep on the ground in the desert!
