| Trevor Jones - Promentory |
This next instrumental comes from the soundtrack of Last of the Mohicans. It's a very good movie and one of the few great movies made about the Native Americans. I'd have to put it up there with Dancing with Wolves which is also a very amazing movie. A great aspect of instrumentals is that they have to capture the mood and feel for the emotions and thoughts that it wants to inspire. I think that without even watching the movie...just listening to it you'll drift off in your own imagination and think up a scene that can fit with this song.
This instrumental is one of the few songs that I can listen to that has a repititous beat to it. I like to feel the music changing as I listen to it so i'm not stuck on just one constant beat. This song though, I have to make an exception for. It uses the beat and rhythm and adds to it, giving a feel of what Native American music spiced up would sound like.
I cannot say why I appreciate this song so much or why it inspired me as it has, but to me, it gives the feel of freedom. One that makes me feel like i'm climbing up a mountain after a given goal or riding freely in an open field getting ready for the hunt, which makes this song truly epic. And i do believe that this instrumental piece captures the essence of the movie more than any other from this soundtrack.
