| Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Christmas Canon Rock |
I think it's by this time most of you has probably gotten tired of the Christmas music that's been playing on the radio, work, or at home. But, it's Christmas after all and it feels right to post a song or two related to the Christmas spirit. It's a special time of year, one that sometimes brings the better out of those who you know that might not be at the nicest the rest of the year!
Christmas music does say something about a specific genre or group of songs that we tend to listen to. What makes Christmas music...Christmas music? Has the thought ever crossed your mind? What is it, that makes this music so different and set apart from the rest of the genres out there? Does say something about how we classify music? Is it the beat, the lyrics, or is it historical? By historical i mean, that the hymns and musical arrangements that have been set aside for Christmas are what every new Christmas song pulls their ideas from? Interesting concept in my opinion, and one that might bring another meaning to how we classify music.
Christmas Canon Rock is by far my favorite song by Trans-Siberian Orchestra and is somewhat famous as well...at least i think it has been played a lot? Sometimes though, it's easy to know a song, but not know the name of it or where it came from. So I hope this sparks the interest for those who havn't been able to find the name to the "orchestra" who is famous for their Christmas music! For those who saw/will see them in tour this year...i just wanted to let you know that i'm jealous, i was not able to go this year. =(
Enjoy!
