This summer has flown by quicker than I had ever imagined! Maybe that's a good thing? Well, at least it has been fun and a great time! July 4th is coming up and i've been bombarded with multiple parties that friends want me to attend. So i did the most logical thing...i'm heading out of town and out of state, up to Michigan! It should be a great time!

This next song is by a famous American metal band. Usually famous if you enjoy metal...which most people don't. This song though, is more set to a rock tone and not as heavy as most of the songs that they have put out. When the Eagle Cries is pretty straight forward as far as what it is about. It is one of the first songs that i heard of this band and it is written in response to 9/11. Friends argue that the lyrics are too much in line with country, i don't disagree, but at least the song doesn't 'sound' like it!

I thought that this would be a good song to include in relation to the U.S. independence day. I know that everyone who reads this does not celebrate it, but indenpendence is a good thing eh? Without freedom of 'music' to express ourselves, we wouldn't have the music we do today! And that could be said for all countries, as freedom of speech is very powerful.

Glad this past couple of hectic weeks are over! Finals for school, graduation, and a friends wedding that i was a part of. Too much to deal with but it's finally over! Maybe i can get back to posting regularly on this blog once again?

I'm happy that college is finally over with. This will technically be my fourth graduation that i went through. Middle school(yes, we had one), high school, Associate in Arts degree(which i did not attend), and my bachelor's from KU. I always remember my middle school graduation for one reason, that is how my song for our ceremony was not the one chosen! As a student body, we were able to chose our own song for our graduation. It came down to my song(the one i posted) and few other, including a very repetitive song...one which i don't remember and i don't care for. All i remember is how angry i was for how that song got chosen over mine and why mine wasn't chosen for these reasons:
1. The lyrics for the song didn't make much sense until a couple minutes in, which the teacher only played 30 seconds of.
2. I was not that cool back in middle school and my reputation did not help compared to the others.

I did feel pretty happy though, knowing that most of the graduation class got sick of the song that they chose. Suits them right! Hearing it over and over again for several days including the rehearsal just made it worse! So in honor of middle school and knowing that this song would've actually suited the graduation better, i'm posting it as a commemorative for my college graduation. And I way of finally getting this off my chest!

Collective Soul is a great band and worth listening to. I hope y'all enjoy this piece and that maybe it will be one that can help put this Memorial Day into perspective. As it's a song that can help reflect about the past as well...for some of us. :)

Thanks to a friend who made me aware of Globus, i am glad that i've been able to find more music that i can add to my library. If you have followed along in my blog, you probably listened to the instrumental from Immediate music. I posted their song, Prelude back in August. (One of my first posts). I found out pretty quickly after hearing a few songs that Globus is the music from Immediate music with lyrics!! I can't believe that I hadn't heard of them sooner! They have been able to take the songs that they produced, added lyrics/choir to it, and made the pieces even better by using the name of Globus.

Sometimes it's just a preference if you prefer songs with only instrumentals or those with lyrics. With Globus, due to the 'epic' songs that they work with from Immediate music's library, and the use of orchestras, most of the lyrics in a lot of their songs is by using Latin. Another song that i posted in August, Lee Soo-Young - Goodbye, i wrote: Words are not important if they cannot flow with the song that it is tied to. If the lyrics are in a language that one does not understand, it needs to flow with the instruments so that one can feel tied to the song without knowing the words. I think this is also true with choirs. If it cannot flow with the song, it will lose it's strength and depth that it can/should add.

The amazing thing with Preliator is that they use a single woman vocalist for most of the Latin lyrics. It really helps to add the epic proportion of this song and bring it to another level! I hope that this song will enlighten you to the depth of choir/solo music and how it can create exceptional pieces of music by use of Latin.

Also, this piece probably reminds you of something you've heard before and it's because this was used for the Spiderman 2 trailer(source song name: Lacrimosa). Classic and epic, this is just a taste of what Immediate music has produced through Globus. Enjoy! :)

This instrumental piece was one of the first ones that I had in my music library and it happens to come from a soundtrack of one of my favoriet movies, The 13th Warrior. I was looking for different themes for movies and happened upon this one and i loved it from the first time i heard it. This song definitely does a great job of bringing out the story of the movie and a sense of a mix of Arabic music mixed in with a coming..adventure to a foreign, unknown world.

This song does a great job to make me think back to a place of mysteries, myths, the talk of old gods, and the smell of fresh air. Even without seeing the movie, you can still get a feel for the power behind this song and the time and place it takes you too. That's what I believe makes this song so inspiring and...epic.

Composers like these who I have posted for the last few times have really helped to bring movies to life in a way that has not been done before. The creativity and ability to compose extraordinary pieces of music has allowed classical music to find its way back into our modern culture. The niche will probably be there for a long time in the future.

Hopefully, once this last semester is over with i will be able to post more frequently, sorry about the long wait for this next post!
Enjoy! :)

This next piece is pretty short. It's from a pretty unknown movie that's a few years old. Road to Perdition is a gangster movie with Tom Hanks. It's very interesting piece and it seems to do a good job depicting life in the...40s? Can't remember when the date of the movie takes place but oh well, enough about the movie!

I enjoyed this instrumental piece as it took the essence of the movie and put it into a very short song. It summarizes the story line but not necessarily the whole movie. When i think about this particular piece it reminds me a lot about the end of the movie, and through that the whole story. It allows me, through the song, to rethink the movie.

Going beyond the movie, i think the title of the song also brings an idea of what a "cathedral" essence would feel like. Could you see yourself walking into a cathedral with this music playing? I think it's an interesting concept as composers usually try and catch the imagination of the person listening and through the title, give a feel for the song is trying to capture. Even the choir voice close to the end helps to drive the point home, so to speak, as to give the feeling of being in a cathedral.

This next instrumental comes from the soundtrack of Last of the Mohicans. It's a very good movie and one of the few great movies made about the Native Americans. I'd have to put it up there with Dancing with Wolves which is also a very amazing movie. A great aspect of instrumentals is that they have to capture the mood and feel for the emotions and thoughts that it wants to inspire. I think that without even watching the movie...just listening to it you'll drift off in your own imagination and think up a scene that can fit with this song.

This instrumental is one of the few songs that I can listen to that has a repititous beat to it. I like to feel the music changing as I listen to it so i'm not stuck on just one constant beat. This song though, I have to make an exception for. It uses the beat and rhythm and adds to it, giving a feel of what Native American music spiced up would sound like.

I cannot say why I appreciate this song so much or why it inspired me as it has, but to me, it gives the feel of freedom. One that makes me feel like i'm climbing up a mountain after a given goal or riding freely in an open field getting ready for the hunt, which makes this song truly epic. And i do believe that this instrumental piece captures the essence of the movie more than any other from this soundtrack.

It's been a couple weeks since i posted last, but it's been pretty busy with midterms and spring break, so i apologize to you who look forward to my post every week. Don't worry, i'm still around! :)

For the next few weeks i'll be focusing on instrumentals from movie soundtracks. It's always interesting how certain songs are always remembered when tagged with a movie. Not only is the piece significant to the specific scene, but it also reflects the emotions and story line of the movie as a whole. Sometimes it's not the same theme for everyone, but other times the theme becomes the general song that everyone can relate to and it's used for that purpose.

Most of these themes that i'll use will be from movies that are pretty widely known. This first theme is from a famous composer, Hans Zimmer. He is well known for movie soundtracks. In my opinion, composers now-a-days find breakthroughs in fame through movies rather than in music halls(though, most of them start out composing in small orchestras around the world as every composer needs to start somewhere). And even now, composers who create music for games are becoming famous as well, i.e. Nobou Uematsu. You can disagree with me, but if you can think of any famous composers in our present day society that somehow isn't linked to movie/game soundtracks and that the common individual might have heard the music of(not necessarily the name), please enlighten me...if not just for the case that i can listen to new music that i can expand my library with! :) I think though, that these composers are few and far between unless you really enjoy classical music.

The Gladiator(2000) might have been the breakthrough soundtrack for Hans Zimmer, as Gladiator is one of the top ten movies, if not top five or three depending on who you talk to from the last decade. It's music has been heard by millions of people, yet not many know who composed it. This piece that was created with Lisa Gerrard is probably the song with which most people can picture being the most famous piece from the movie. As it comes at the end, it's very powerful and can easily be remembered.

Other famous movies that Hans Zimmer created music for are: Cool Runnings(1993), The Lion King(1994), Crimson Tide(1995), The Rock(1996), Broken Arrow(1996), The Thin Red Line, (1998), Mission: Impossible 2(2000), Black Hawk Down (2001), Pearl Harbor (2001), The Last Samurai (2003), King Arthur (2004), Batman Begins (2005), Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006), Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007), The Dark Knight (2008), Kung Fu Panda (2008), and many more! He also created the music behind Tarja Turunen's album which i posted a song for back in December.

As you can see, Hans Zimmer's music is famous beyond doubt and his music has changed what we perceive of movies.

I hope you enjoy this piece and may it bring back memories of the movie! (If you have seen it that is...if not, rent it today! :) )

Tetris Theme...remixed?

So i'm doing something new for this week and it includes a poll for your input! Tetris, the theme of this blog was one of the first games that i ever played as a kid and if you have been around a computer long enough, the chances of you ever playing or seen it around is pretty huge. You can actually check out the game for free and play online at www.freetetris.org. It might refresh your memory on the simple aspects of 8 bit games!

The tetris theme is very catchy, especially if you played it a lot like i did as a kid, and it sticks very easily and i doubt i'll ever forget the tune if i heard it. I hadn't heard the actual theme in a long time, so as i thought about doing this for my blog, i spent a couple hours looking around in the internet to find the theme and it wasn't easy as not many people tend to keep game tracks on hand! Found it i have, and out of due respect for the theme, i will post it here below. Though, this blog will focus on how certain remixes of this song has changed it, yet kept it intact.

I will use four separate remixes and you, the reader, will grade which remix is the best. Grading will be based on what you consider the important aspects of music is...for a remix. Is it originality, instruments used, or something more specific that you are looking for? Of course, this grading is also based on certain bias as i can only have four options for this poll on thoughts.com and there's probably tons of remixes for tetris and including all of them will take too much of yours and my time. Thinking of this, I have chosen four very different remixes that are all unique in its own way. All of the remixes come from www.ocremix.org website.

Here's the original Theme from tetris, very easy to understand and roughly two minutes long. You can tell that there's really not much texture to this song as it was made for a game that's really old and its original format did not allow it to sound as clean as an mp3 today is. The theme itself originated from the Russian folk song, Korobeiniki. If you listen to the folk song, you can easily pick out the theme from it. My search for the theme brought me there first, but it did not capture the originality of the actual theme that was from the game, which took a little longer to find.

Song: Tetris (-A- Theme)
Artist: Super Power Club
Album: Super Power Club: 8-bit Hits, Vol. 1 - EP
Genre: Game Theme

<embed src= "http://www.odeo.com/flash/audio_player_standard_gray.swf" quality="high" width="300" height="52" allowScriptAccess="always" wmode="transparent" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" flashvars= "valid_sample_rate=true&external_url=http://loning-dod.com/tetris-theme.mp3" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"> </embed>

Alright, here we go. We all have an expert knowledge of tetris. You have probably checked the link out and played the game if it wasn't familiar to you and now you have also heard the original theme. You can without doubt say that you played the tetris from back in the day! Starting the list of remixes is one that i consider very upbeat. It is remixed from a guy who calls himself, cthonic. You can tell that he had some fun remixing this theme as the originality is hard to distinguish from the remix, but it's there and it's powerful. If I had to choose, i'd probably use this one when i play tetris as it adds quite a bit of flavor to a simple game.

cthonic - Linear Groove

<embed src= "http://www.odeo.com/flash/audio_player_standard_gray.swf" quality="high" width="300" height="52" allowScriptAccess="always" wmode="transparent" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" flashvars= "valid_sample_rate=true&external_url=http://loning-dod.com/tetris_linear_groove_oc_remix.mp3" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"> </embed>

Our next remix is roughly six minutes long, That's three times the length of the actual theme and after listening to it, you'd probably wish that it was twice the length on top of that! Jeremy Robson does an amazing job remixing this song. The song is a great instrumental piece that brings the best out of the tetris theme and puts it into...you guessed it, a concerto! It's really enjoyable to listen to and a great remix! He adds in variety and instruments(mostly piano) that brings out the flavor of a symphony.

Jeremy Robson - Piano Concerto in A minor

<embed src= "http://www.odeo.com/flash/audio_player_standard_gray.swf" quality="high" width="300" height="52" allowScriptAccess="always" wmode="transparent" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" flashvars= "valid_sample_rate=true&external_url=http://loning-dod.com/tetris_piano_concerto_in_a_minor_oc_remix.mp3" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"> </embed>

Our third remix brings in an interesting techno/trance mix to the Tetris theme. I havn't included any techno songs on my blog yet, but the plan to put some on in the future is in the works! R3FORGED does a pretty good job making the Tetris theme into an awesome trance piece that could possibly be put on any trance cd and people might not even be able to point out where this came from and it would sound legit! I enjoy this kind of variety to music and it adds a lot to to the tetris theme.

R3FORGED - Thirty-Plus Mix

<embed src= "http://www.odeo.com/flash/audio_player_standard_gray.swf" quality="high" width="300" height="52" allowScriptAccess="always" wmode="transparent" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" flashvars= "valid_sample_rate=true&external_url=http://loning-dod.com/tetris_thirty-plus_mix_oc_remix.mp3" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"> </embed>

The last theme is from someone called McVaffe. I enjoy this one quite a bit as it keeps more of the originality of the tetris theme than the others(of course this can be argued). The pace on this is pretty slow and builds up like the actual Korobeiniki song does, and what the tetris theme should do i think? But as you increase in levels, the blocks fall faster so this remix by McVaffe builds off of that to an extent. As the song is rougly four minutes, he has built in some transition music that fits to the theme as well. Really interesting piece.

Alright, that's four remixes that should cover a variety of different instruments that can be used to make the original tetris theme sound...not so boring! :) I hope you enjoyed this change of pace for the blog and make sure you vote!

It's hard for me to use Enigma's Gravity of Love without including Delerium's Silence right after. These songs are inseparable, as I play one I have to play the other. I'm not exactly sure what it is that has made these two songs so similar that I can't play one without the other, but that's what makes music so interesting and unique. Part of the reason I imagine would be from the time that i got these two songs, as i remember almost a decade ago(yes that long!) that these two songs both ended up in my music library. How i got them or where they came from eludes me, as I do not remember.

There are very few lyrical songs that can send me into thought without being pulled back to reality by the singer. This is probably why i enjoy listening to instrumental pieces more than anything else. I think that's one of the reasons why i love this song so much, how i could put it into a mix with other instrumentals and not skip a beat. But alas, usually it gets into a different mix together with Gravity of Love. That's how these two songs are inevitably tied. I don't think there's any other pair of songs in my music library that is linked in a such a way as these two. Maybe after listening to these songs you might be able to figure out why they fit together...or how they shouldn't be? That is up to you!

On a side note: I was really surprised to find out that my girlfriend and her roommate knew this song as it was a track played in their bodyflow class. I guess this song has had some exposure which is nice! :)

I've had this song in my music library for ages. I have no idea how i got it or where it came from, but it's been a favorite of mine, mostly for how calming it is in the beginning. I think what pulled me to the song is the choir voices in the background that sings parts of the song in latin. I really think that it adds quite a bit to this song and that it was integrated very well.

With Valentine's Day already passed, i thought i'd stick with another song that speaks of love. Partly because the last blog post that I made, made me think about this specific piece. I never really payed much attention to the lyrics or what the song really was trying to say concerning the "gravity of love." As I thought about this, I actually pulled up the lyrics and found out what the song was trying to say. One verse caught me off guard, and thought that it would be worth putting in this blog. It says:

Try to think about it ...
Thats the chance to live your life and discover
What it is, whats the gravity of love

I was taking my own advice from the last blog to think about what the songs were saying concerning love, i.e. if it is sad or happy. In this one, i can see that lyrics is about searching for what the gravity of love is, and they don't have an answer for it. Interesting... I guess that's what makes thing song somewhat mysterious? I wonder what emotions this song brings to those who listen to what it is trying to say?

Anyway, enjoy! :)

Well...Valentine's Day is within the week and it's come quicker than i thought it would! I'm not single as i've been in the years past, so i will actually be celebrating for once! :)

Valentine's Day is also very fitting for music. As most, not all, music written has to do with love. No matter the type of song the ideas of love is usually found. It can be pure or distorted, honest or faithless, happy or sad. The emotions of the writer is found within each song as they pour their hearts into what they sing. Each song brings the authors experience of the love that they've felt throughout their life. Songs encompasses every kind of emotion from being full of joy at meeting their significant other to sadness at not finding that love.

It seems to me, in my opinion, that there are a lot more songs that deal with the sadness aspect of love. It does put one into a depressing state at times, but it also shows how important it is to hold someone close so you can confide in them. It makes one see that people are seeking for something that they have not found to fill the hole in their heart. Will they ever find it? I have no idea, but i think that every human being has that same drive to find love. For me, it is God who has filled that hole in my heart. Even though my girlfriend comes second, it is easier for me to love her by knowing what it means to understand true, sacrificial love.

As you listen to this song and any other song that you have come to know that speaks about love see if you can tell if they're full of joy or sadness. Which kinds do you tend to hear the most of?

Happy Valentine's day and enjoy this next song! :)

These last couple of days a lot of things have been on my mind, issues that have made me think more deeply than what i normally do. These thoughts revolved mostly about the future and what lies ahead for me in my career path. Usually when i'm deep in thought as like this, I tend to use music as a way to think and reflect. This is how i've developed such a strong tie to certain types of music, especially instrumentals.

This last piece of music I didnt even know that i had...to an extent(i blame my library being too huge! :P). I use certain game soundtracks for doing homework or reading, but sometimes when it comes to these soundtracks i don't really pay attention to specific pieces of music. I'm not exactly sure how i ended up scrolling through this soundtrack on my iTunes or how I ended up listening to this specific instrumental piece. Though, when i did...i was shocked by how well orchestrated it was. I have already listed a song by Nobuo Uematsu earlier in this blog and his range of music that he has composed is pretty large. I think he's one of the most talented composers in our present age and just because his work is focused on games, it doesn't and shouldn't downplay how great, creative, and gifted that he is.

I hope you will come to enjoy this piece for what it is and not what it was made for as you'll come to love it even more!

Well, I finished typing my blog and then quicktime had some stupid update message that caused firefox to quit responding...gotta love apple! Anywho...

It is interesting how musical taste can differ quite a bit between siblings. My youngest brother and I are six years apart, yet our taste in music are on the opposite sides of the pendulum. His taste of music consists mostly of rap and country which are the two genres of music that i listen to the least! I think that most of the differences can be related to culture. He was too young to be integrated into the music I listened to in Sweden and the culture that I our family grew up in. His main source of music didn't come until our family moved to the U.S. I know that there are several other factors involved but I do think that the society and culture that one grows up in has a huge impact on ones source of music. Even through our differences though, he doesnt dislike some of the music i listen to and vice versa.

I usually try to be open to new bands that my brother finds. Some of the songs/bands are pretty interesting even though they are very different and something that i dont care much for. Although, at certain instances he finds a song or band that are pretty good and worth keeping and allows me to increase my music library. Part of that reason i guess, is that he still listens to the radio which i have given up on! hah! I try to practice what i preach as well. I know it's tough to sometimes listen to music of someone who's taste is very different, but that's exactly what i'm doing with this blog!

As i'm finishing off this month of rock music, I hope you are excited about what's coming next! Enjoy!

I am continuing my trek with modern U.S. rock. I've found it refreshing to come back to music that's more mainstream in nature. Even though it has grown old on me, there's usually a few good songs that are released every once in awhile, and even some that aren't played on the radio. For me, those songs are tougher to hear as i don't necessarily worry too much about listening to the full CD of certain bands. I blame it on there being too much music with too little time on my hands. There has to be either more hours in a day or we just need to function on less sleep! I'd prefer the latter, at least i'll have more time to juggle work, school, girlfriend, and music! :)

Earshot is one of those few bands that I actually found somewhat interesting. Their music is pretty mainstream, yet they have some unique songs and vocals. This song speaks to me and as it's not a song that was promoted as a single, it's one that i would never have found had i not decided to listen to their CD. So i guess, sometimes it's worth to listen to a CD of a band, as their songs can be fairly good and still not make the radio! And sometimes it's not...i remember breaking a couple CD's as I was very disappointed in the lack of musical talent besides their "one-hit" song.
Either way, enjoy this next edition to my blog.

It's New Year's Eve and i'm posting the last song for the year. This year has gone by crazy fast and I can't believe it's almost 2009. It's also been almost six months that i've posted a song every week and there's been quite a few of you who have listened to songs that you might not have ever listened to before and getting exposed to new kinds of music.

This whole time I have been trying to push the fact that, sometimes you have to get out of your comfort zone and find new music that you wouldn't normally listen to. I have been trying to incorporate as many different genre's and different kinds of music to help show how wide ones' interest for music can be. I will be continuing this trend for the coming year and I hope that the music I will post will continue to be different, refreshing, and enjoyable to listen to.

With this week, I picked a song that its lyrics represent what music is all about. Sometimes you have to turn off the radio that plays the same songs that you have been listening to day in and day out and find something new! So I hope that this blog has done just that!

I also wanted to pose a question to you who are reading this blog...what has been the most influential song on this blog? Is there any that you have heard before, songs or bands? What do you think so far?

With that said...enjoy this next song and the last for 2008!

The word Greensleeves might not sound so familiar to some of you, but it's a song that will easily come to mind around Christmas time, as the lyrics for "What Child is This?" was set to the song. One idea behind the real lyrics to Greensleeves is that it was talking about a Lady Green Sleeves...who some think could have been a promiscuous girl. It's interesting how Christian lyrics could be set to a song that has had a different meaning all together. Though, i think that this is a good point to make when it comes to understanding music.

Music in and of itself is not morally good or bad, in other words it is amoral. It is how we associate the music that we hear through lyrics or a certain lifestyle that inheritantly defines the morality of a genre of music or just a song. Even the instruments used for a song can give it a whole new meaning. Why do we do this? It's a good question to ask ourselves and one that I thought about through this specific song.

As a lot of church goers have when it comes to Christmas music or just hymns in general is that of how it "needs" a certain sound in order to be "good" or morally "correct." Since when should music be put in a box? Jesus gave us(Christians) the freedom to worship how our heart felt led to worship. Should music define worship...or should worship be defined by how we(Christians) want to show our gratitude to our personal and loving God? I'd rather go with the latter, and I think this song shows how barriers in both how lyrics of a "promiscuous" song can be turned into a Christian song and how worship shouldn't be defined by what instruments "traditional" Christian churches think should be played.

Christmas is about love and freedom in Christ, not traditional ways of worship!

Merry Christmas and enjoy! :)

I think it's by this time most of you has probably gotten tired of the Christmas music that's been playing on the radio, work, or at home. But, it's Christmas after all and it feels right to post a song or two related to the Christmas spirit. It's a special time of year, one that sometimes brings the better out of those who you know that might not be at the nicest the rest of the year!

Christmas music does say something about a specific genre or group of songs that we tend to listen to. What makes Christmas music...Christmas music? Has the thought ever crossed your mind? What is it, that makes this music so different and set apart from the rest of the genres out there? Does say something about how we classify music? Is it the beat, the lyrics, or is it historical? By historical i mean, that the hymns and musical arrangements that have been set aside for Christmas are what every new Christmas song pulls their ideas from? Interesting concept in my opinion, and one that might bring another meaning to how we classify music.

Christmas Canon Rock is by far my favorite song by Trans-Siberian Orchestra and is somewhat famous as well...at least i think it has been played a lot? Sometimes though, it's easy to know a song, but not know the name of it or where it came from. So I hope this sparks the interest for those who havn't been able to find the name to the "orchestra" who is famous for their Christmas music! For those who saw/will see them in tour this year...i just wanted to let you know that i'm jealous, i was not able to go this year. =(

Enjoy!

Psyche! It's Monday night, but it's technically Tuesday morning, so i'm posting this next song a little early. Maybe it's always good to wake up early and listen to a new song rather than one before you go to sleep?

As a friend told me, this song is both peaceful and intense. I have to agree. It starts out really slow and picks up closer to the end. If you listen to the lyrics, the song is actually pretty sad and melancholy, but it also brings a message that speaks about what Christmas is missing. It might seem far-fetched...but we all tend to pull something different from each song that we listen to.

To some of you, the name Tarja Turunen might sound familiar, she used to be the lead singer of Nightwish before breaking off to go down a separate path. I'm glad that she didn't stop all together. Her voice is amazing, as she is a trained opera singer, and you can tell by how well she can hold the notes and it really adds to the music.

This is an crazy week, last one before finals and its getting busier with deadlines coming due. My sleep schedule is whacked, but it'll get back to normal after this is all over. Music is the only thing keeping me sane and I hope that I'm being some help to you as well!

Enjoy! :)
