Well, I finished typing my blog and then quicktime had some stupid update message that caused firefox to quit responding...gotta love apple! Anywho...
It is interesting how musical taste can differ quite a bit between siblings. My youngest brother and I are six years apart, yet our taste in music are on the opposite sides of the pendulum. His taste of music consists mostly of rap and country which are the two genres of music that i listen to the least! I think that most of the differences can be related to culture. He was too young to be integrated into the music I listened to in Sweden and the culture that I our family grew up in. His main source of music didn't come until our family moved to the U.S. I know that there are several other factors involved but I do think that the society and culture that one grows up in has a huge impact on ones source of music. Even through our differences though, he doesnt dislike some of the music i listen to and vice versa.
I usually try to be open to new bands that my brother finds. Some of the songs/bands are pretty interesting even though they are very different and something that i dont care much for. Although, at certain instances he finds a song or band that are pretty good and worth keeping and allows me to increase my music library. Part of that reason i guess, is that he still listens to the radio which i have given up on! hah! I try to practice what i preach as well. I know it's tough to sometimes listen to music of someone who's taste is very different, but that's exactly what i'm doing with this blog!
