(added May 13, 2009)
They layed in bed -disheveled and exhausted. She watched his body and as he managed to catch his breath, she cuddled up to him.
-
He looked down at her smiling...
"Sorry, but I don't think I have the energy to go again." he teased between deep breaths.
-
"So.. was that us 'getting over it'?" she asked playfully.
-
"No," he quit gasping "that was just me getting 'over' you." he laughed.
-
"Well aren't you the most charming man in the world?" she taunted, as she mildly shoved him over.
-
"You know, you really shouldn't push me away. I believe that is why we're in the predicament that we're in now." he said.
-
Suddenly, in one swift motion, she arose from the bed, dressed in sheets. She felt frustration overcome her. Why had he said that? Was the fact that they weren't together really all her fault?
-
He watched her unwravel from the sheets as she searched the floor for her dress.
"Sweetheart, I didn't mean it like that."
He stood up and followed towards her. He went to put his arms around her. She resisted. Finally though, he managed to hold her, and as she cried in his arms, he found himself standing in the same familiar embrace they had been in, in the corridor.
-
She was a cocktail of mixed emotions. She wasn't for sure if she hated that she had become so emotionally vulnerable in his presence, or if she hated that their love was in vain.
-
He felt so confused, as he felt the rush of her tears crashing down his bare chest. He wanted to help her, but wasn't sure how. Never, had he felt so helpless.
could this be the point in the affair in which they discuss him leaving his wife? Was he ready to leave his wife of two and a half years for her? His mind was in a continuous cycle of thoughts, he couldn't control.
-
She knew he just had to be as confused as she was. She could only assume that he was thinking the same: the wife. For the bonds of marriage was the only thing holding him back from her entirely. She wondered who he'd choose when this was all done and over with: Herself, or his wife?
-
He cleared his throat.
"I've made so many mistakes in my life... I've completed so many wrongs against the people I love the most in this world, but... I just don't think I could ever bring myself to hurt another person, that despite everything, I really do care about."
-
She lifted her head from off his chest. She pulled herself away from his arms.
Was he really going to choose his wife over her?
