Today is the fourth of July. In most countries it's just like any other day.. the 3rd, the 4th, the 5th... what's the difference? But here in the United States of America parades filled with local fire trucks and candy throwing float riders, and the sounds of fireworks both big and small can be heard all over the country. It's a day for drinking beer, having family and friends over for a neighborhood barbeque and the one day a year where we Americans celebrate just that.. America. But through all the beer and the floats and the candy and the hot dogs... how many people really stop to think about what this one day a year represents. July 4th, 1776 was the day the American Revolutionaries declared indendepence from the tyranny of Britain. July 4th, 2008 we celebrate that independence and the country we have become: the most well respected country in the world with the free-est citizens, even though most of the time we don't stop to appreciate it. So on this fourth of July 232 years after the first celebrations of our country's independence in 1776 let us take a moment and remember the reason for the fireworks we watch and the family members we pop a beer with. Let's take a moment to say a prayer for every man and woman lost in every american war. Say a prayer for them and for the future of this country, because we have to remember that without those men and women hundreds of years past and today we wouldn't be able to celebrate they way we do. Just.. remember.
