| God calls all Chrisians to be Super Heroes! |
Did you know that God calls Christians to be Super Heroes? David Martin, an International Evangelist in Oklahoma, explains how on a new video which can be viewed at www.livingsupernaturally.com.
'Every body is born with an interest of the supernatural/paranormal.' according to Martin. God is supernatural. Assuming you believe the Bible to be true, all men are made in the image of God according to the Bible. Therefore we should naturally be supernatural.
Thousands are drawn to the series of books, films and merchandise today because of this inborn longing for the supernatural. In David's generation Superman was the man-made superhero who was able to fly, had superhuman strength, saved worlds and protected the weak.
David explains how for the 10 years before he got right with God he was extremely mixed up in the demonic dimension of the supernatural and all that it contained. As many young boys do, he longed for power and phenomenal experiences. David attended a church that unfortunately did not teach on the supernatural. The pastor did not have an objection to David's desire to learn about it though he himself was not interested.
Like many today David plunged head first into the supernatural dimension and enjoyed every minute. He unlocked great capabilities that he knew where not his. 'I didn't know I was serving the devil in the process' Martin confesses. It was in the middle of one of these supernatural encounters that Martin had a near death experience and he knew that something was not right. This halted his delving in the demonic dimension. He met a group of Christians soon after that were able to help him see the errors of his past. He also discovered his faith in Jesus.
This charismatic Bible study group introduced Martin to God's miracle healing power. They explained how this power is accessible to all believers in Christ and the Holy Spirit's power. David received what he calls the Baptism of the Holy Spirit in January 1979. Immediately he began to experience a new and Godly dimension of the supernatural.
David says that this time it was a different experience. He had such peace and just knew that it was right. It was very different from the first group of experiences. Immediately he began experiencing God's power. He attended Bible college after a couple of years. He then started his worldwide ministry from Broken Arrow, OK. He was blessed to be able to travel all around the world. He went to Africa (where he focused his greatest emphasis on) 19 different times.
You can see the allure that man made super heroes and the supernatural have on us today just by looking in several areas. It began with comics books that contained Superman and Batman (to name a few) and has crossed over to television shows and movies that has multimillion dollar budgets. You can't flip through the TV stations without running across several shows that have characters that are interested in the occult etc. or are based solely on it. At least one movie is released a month or so where the occult with demons and sorcery is the main storyline.
'Compare Jesus against the super heroes that we have created and not one can hold a candle to what He did. Christ isn't an imaginary, man made creature. He is true and the real deal. The problem is that the church has failed to teach the supernatural' Martin says.
'The miracle we are most acquainted with is the indisputable fact that Christ healed the sick and the lame. He even raised the dead. Additionally, through the power of the Holy Spirit, He calmed a horrendous storm, walked on water, knew which fish contained a gold coin in it's mouth, broke a very large net by producing a humongous catch of fish (large enough to need help from multiple boats) made body parts as needed and moved the entire boat full of people to the opposite side from the middle of the sea. And if all of that wasn't enough, Jesus performed super hero feats! He was raised from the dead after 3 days and walked around for 40 days meeting all sorts of people. After that, 500 men, women and children were witnesses to Christ's ascension to heaven!'
The bottom line though is, presuming you believe the Bible is true, as David Martin does. Jesus Himself said in John 14:12 that he who believes in Him would do what He did and even greater. This is the verse that Martin has been preaching around the world for the last 30 years. Martin says, 'I taught the supernatural to thousands of pastors, and as often as I teach it, everyone always wants to know more. It's a topic that needs to be taught more, and unless the church wakes up and teaches the full truth of the Bible, more believers and non-believers are going to be drawn to other sources of the supernatural.'
Though Martin has hundreds of audio CDs for sale on the supernatural, his latest endeavor is a radio show that airs live in the Milwaukee area every Sunday.
