light a match,
see the flare,
light up the space,
watch it fade away,
leaving you in darkness.
strike another,
follow the flickering pattern.
then be left in an inky black relm.
another flare,
as you grope around,
for a candle.
A way to preserve
that single light,
able to dispel darkness.
the candle is found,
you light the wick,
and watch the little flame grow.
steady light,
warmth.
trace the flickering patterns,
only made once,
never the same.
just watch that single flame,
dispelling darkness,
giving light.
as a shadow flickers past,
you see a heart,
a candle is just like love,
once lit it gives off warmth,
light, it makes you smile.
the pattern is never the same,
but the effect is.
A flame is extinguished,
just with a single breath.
Love is the same,
but don't let that happen!
So remember next time you light a match,
the lesson to be learned from that flame.
