| Another View on Aging -- A poem |
Another View of Aging
Death surrounds the aged and we try to give an ear
To listen to what they talk about and what is it that they fear.
When the aged friends die the surviving just try to hold on
They fear that they may be soon covered by their own lawn.
Some aged fear that they won't be able to walk or to drive
When consumed by pain they often wish they were dead instead of alive.
They fear being alone when the family is geographically close but emotional distant
A kind way to say they are stubborn would be to say they are insistent.
Another one may come and take the missed one's chair
God is the only one that can meet all of our cares.
If only the middle aged could grow old with such resolute grace
For some the search never ends to discover their intended place.
