| Adventures in High Heels |
For weeks now I've been looking for a new pair of shoes and last night I finally got around to it but ended up getting more than I bargained for.
I normally wear Skechers and found a cute pair of black Mary Janes, in soft leather with a wedge heel, comfortable and ideal for work. I thought I was done shopping but on my way out I was inexplicably drawn to the dress shoes featured at the front of the store. I wasn't in the market for anything like this but lingering abo ut looking at the glamorous heels. I've never worn anything bigger than a kitten heel and have always thought of stilettos as an impractical excess. However on THIS day I was undeniably intrigued and tempted by these stylish shoes. I'm not sure what motivated me, curiosity or a sense of adventure but found myself pointing to a sassy DKNY black leather pump and asking the sales clerk, "Do you have this in a size five?"
As he went into the back I settled into a chair with a mounting sense of excitement and kicked off my sneakers . When he returned with the box and presented the shoes to me I slipped them on. Looking down I let out a little giggling having a true Cinderella moment. It was a beautiful fit and I loved the way they looked, so glamorous and feminine. Then, taking a deep breath, I slowly rose from the chair to find myself standing a full 4 inches taller. Being only 5'3 these heels gave me a totally new perspective both literally and figuratively. My posture was automatically altered as if everything suddenly snapped into place. It felt..so different...so Good...SO RIGHT! I gingerly stepped forward trying them out, taking careful steps at first afraid I might stumble but quickly fell into a certain rhythm and was moving about with ease and confidence. WALKING TALL. When I made my way to the mirror I couldn't believe my eyes. I looked SO tall AND...this girl's got booty!
That was it! I was sold and went totally crazy. The poo r sales clerk was running back and forth bring out more and more shoes. Before too long I had picked over a half a dozen and had them all spread out around me. I WANTED THEM ALL!! In the end I settled on a sweet pair of beige patent leathers, Nine West, totally impractical for work or school but I HAD TO HAVE THEM! I am definitely going back when I get my next pay check!
