First Day of Teaching

I practiced how I will introduce the lesson, but I forgot to practice how I will introduce myself. And I think my self-introduction went.. not really so good. I think I scared my students. Ididnt have a seat plan yet. And I kept on addressing them ‘you’.

I used a fable to introduce the pronouns. I made them read it the short fable by group. And then I asked some students to answer some comprehension questions. Since I was not yet familiar with their names, I called them randomly by class number. I scared them again.

I forgot that even I was scared by teacher’s random calling. But it was the only way to make sure they were listening. And there was this kid, Gurman, I just couldn’t let him get away without giving me the lesson of the story.

At first I thought it was going to be easy and I’ll be able to finish half of the lesson. I was wrong. Forty-minutes flew by just like that. At least I was able to finish the fable and introduce the pronouns.
