An illegal alien, driving as if she were drunk and with a history of reckless driving charges received an 8-year prison sentence for her role in the deaths of two people last Spring. Maria Garcia Sanchez had been convicted THREE TIMES for driving without a license and once for driving without insurance.
Just after the crash, Sanchez told state troopers that she had swerved out of her lane to avoid a puddle because it had been raining. But troopers through their investigation never found any water, and in fact, pointed out that that particular stretch of Highway 161 is new and has good drainage which would not have created a water hazard.
